I have seen somewhat similar plant stands described as being Neoclassical. Edwardian, Louis XIV, Louis XVI, Empire or Louis Philippe. I am truly out of my element here! English? French? I simply do not know. I do not find any makers marks on it and I don't know when or where it was made. Based on some of its construction details thou gh, I think it likely it dat es from the early part of the 20th c entury. The stand is tight and sturdy an d t here are no repairs on it. I can find only one s pot on the corner edge of a leg where there is a small area w here the wood is chippe d. Personally I wouldn't touch it- I' d just turn the stand so it was on the least visible side. The big gest condition issue I see is that the original finish has some whit ish areas from age deterio rat ion. I believe that the finish is lacqu er. And simply respraying it with a fresh coat of lacquer would soft en and meld into t he original finish to restore it. As such, I have avoided putting any thing on it that would reduce the effectiveness of a simple lacquer recoat. I am willin g to pack and ship this plant stand and ship it as is stated in my shipping terms. I am a very careful packer and have packed and shipped a great many fragile items. Here we have an Antique Nippon Hand Painted Planter Jardiniere with Handles. Moriage Bead. It measures 4 1/8" tall and 5 1/2" wide(handle to handle) It is in very good condition with no chips or flakes. There are several hairline cracks on the bottom near the hole(can be seen in the last picture) This piece is beautifully hand decorated with pink and purple flowers, gold outline and moriage beading, gold scrolls and swirls in the pink area. Magnificent Victorian Hand Painted Pottery Jardiniere Great Colors 19th Century
This auction is for a Fabulous Hand Painted Antique Victorian Pottery or Earthenware Jardiniere. With its bold colors of Cinnamon and Cobalt and its heavily Molded Form. This Jardiniere would instantly become the Decorative focal point of any room. I have owned/sold many Jardiniers over the years but this one is among the most beautiful and uniquely designed. Around the pot. There are 6 Cartouches with images of white flowers against a Cobalt Background. The cartouches are separated by highly molded Victorian Floral and Leaf Motif in the color of Cinnamon. There are no makers marks or stamps. Other than a handwritten number on the bottom: 975. By the form and feel and styling. I believe it dates to the early to mid 1800s. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or hairlines or stains or damage. The colors are Vivid and really POP. There is age appropriate wear of the gold accent paint at the top edges and fine. Even crazing that can be seen only on the off-white inside and the bottom, not on the painted outside. It only adds to the character and authenticity of this Great Find. The Jardiniere measures about 9 1/4 inches tall and is about 8 1/2 inches wide at the mouth. This is a beautiful embossed mushroom decorated planter found in good to very good used condition. The only condition issues to report is a small chip on the bottom, otherwise not visible, near the 5" marker on the bottom, and the other issue being the lime rings inside- see photo 7- so if not using it as a planter might want to try Lime Away or some such cleaner. Antique Limoges Jardiniere Planter RARE Flow Blue Under Glaze Design 1880's
This is a magnificent and rare piece of flow blue Limoges. This huge jardiniere was made by the William Guerin Co. in the late 1880's. It features a gorgeous design of poppy flowers and leaves that have been painted in the blue Sevres style under the glaze. This technique allowed the blue to flow with soft edges when it was fired. Creating a soft and beautiful image. This is a very large piece painted in this style and extremely rare. I have not been able to find another like it. It is in very fine condition with the exception of gold loss around the rim of the mouth opening. Because these pieces were used to hold floral displays and live plants, this is considered normal ware. There are no chips, cracks or hairlines, and the glaze is in very fine condition.The circumfrence is 42" at the widest part. It stands 9 1/2" high, 10" ... moreacross the mouth, and 7" across the base. This piece was not signed by the artist, but they did leave their ghostly finger prints under the glaze as shown in picture#6. The bottom is marked with the green under glaze WG&Co stamp used before 1891. This large jardiniere displays beautifully and works well with other flow blue pieces as shown. Victorian Ceramic Jardiniere Planter Applied Gold Gilding Birds and Branches
You are bidding on a footed ceramic jardiniere or planter dating from the Victorian Era circa 1880. Thick gold leafing or gilding has been applied on a forest green ground with birds and branches that have been incised with fine details. The piece stands 9" tall and it's 9 1/2" wide at the rim. There is no makers mark or impressed marks. As shown in our pictures. There is some crazing throughout inside the planter that does not go through the heavy glazing. There is a light crack at the rim. The condition of the gold gilding on the birds and branches is good. The painted gold on the feet, handles and rim is worn. Offered is a fabulous antique French ART NOUVEAU JARDINIERE or CACHE POT. PLANTER from SAINT AMAND, FRANCE. This factory was established in 1718 by PIERRE-JOSEPH FAUQUEZ. It was located in the north east of France. They made soft paste porcelain in the SEVRES style from 1815 to 1877. This beautiful antique jardiniere features not only and ART NOUVEAU theme. But also an ART NOUVEAU shape! The mouth to this jardiniere fans out like a flower and the two handles become flowers. It has a pierced rim in the front and back. It has a deep purple to a lilac purple background which features white. ... morePurple, green and yellow flowers with green leaves on both the front and back with gold highlights. This is a very imposing piece in size as it measures 11 INCHES TALL and 15 INCHES WIDE. The foot measures 7.5 INCHES WIDE by 5.5 INCHES front to back. It is marked on the underside of the base with an impressed mark which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. It measures roughly 9" tall x 11" in diameter at its widest and weigh close to seven pounds. The diameter across the top opening is just under 9 1/2" The decoration features gold gilt over swirled bands of cobalt blue and maroon. The condition is very good. Up for auction is what I have identified by the mark on the bottom. Is an Ott& Brewer Etruria Pottery of Trenton, NJ Jardiniere Planter. This jardiniere is in excellent condition. It has a green transferware pattern all the way around with a very intricate floral design. It has embossed bands of leaves and has two embossed marblized bands in a brown shade separating the floral design. It has minor gold wear- nothing distracting. It is clean, with some glaze pops inside. Marked on the bottom Etruria in red over glaze with a 2921 gold decorators mark. It measures 11" handle to handle and stands approximately 8 3/8" tall. The Staffordshire of America" In 1852. Two immigrants from Staffordshire founded the Trenton's first industrial pottery, Taylor and Speeler on Mill Hill. Magnificent late Victorian- turn of the century era ceramic jardiniere. Beautiful. Rare monochrome pink glaze. I have seen 2 other versions of this piece in multicolored glaze- never in monochrome. It has the most awesome winged dragon or griffon figural handles! A real showstopper! In very good condition, considering its age. It has a couple of very small chips to the glaze, the worst of which is at the bottom of the dragon's tail(my 8th pic- the one where you see my hand holding the piece up for the photo) Also has a few minor glaze defects from its manufacture. There was a letter(s) before the O which can not be identified. This jardiniere is from the dispersal of a family Estate and looks as if it never held a plant. We believe this to have been made by Jules Verlingue who owned the"La Madeleine" factory in Boulogne-sur-Mer since this piece is marked with a B. His pieces were very similar to the Desvres pieces and also featured the famous Rouen decore. They can be found in the Desvres faience museum. This beautiful planter stands on 4 feet. Has 2 scrolling handles and is pierced through both the front and back as seen in the photos. It features the coat of arms of Mont Saint Michel with the Rouen pattern. It is a blended from Brown to Green. The jardiniere measures approx. 7 1/2" high and 9 1/2" across its widest. The pedestal measures approx. 14" tall and 8 1/4" across. Overall approx. 21 1/4" tall. We don't see any chips or cracks- Great condition. We found the following on oldantiquepottery info site on the internet: RRP Co Pottery A Brief History In 1900. Frank Ransbottom and his brother started a pottery company in Roseville, Ohio to make stoneware and pottery. By 1916 Ransbottom Pottery was the largest producer of stoneware jars in America. Around 1920, they merged with Robinson Clay Products Co. who created bricks and tiles. The name was changed to RRP Company(to reflect both initials) and product lines expanded to include gardenware in addition to their art pottery and functional goods. The company was able to endure through the great depression. RRP Co is often confused with Roseville Pottery by fledgling collectors. Royal Bonn Rare Spectacular Oval Handled Jardiniere/Vase Mehlem Germany ca 1900
I have for your consideration a large and spectacular dated and numbered Royal Bonn dual handled jardinière/vase bearing the Franz Anton Mehlem Factory mark used between 1875 and 1890. I cannot locate any signature. But as the pictures will attest to, this piece rivals the artistic talent found on any Limoges, Belleek or Pickard hand painted item! The oval jardinière/vase is absolutely stunning not only just in color but also in shape. As well. The mold is rare and simply exquisite. The background color of the porcelain is a fabulous ivory. The handles originate in a sweeping arc from and curls up and around the sides forming a sweeping/rolling rim edge around the mouth opening. This rolling edge is done in a gold trim and raised beading and also forms a pleasing opening in the front and back. The inside of the mouth rim in feathered ... morewith gold gild. Raised gold leaves adorn the underside of each handle and swirl around and accentuate the body of the jardinière/vase. The front and reverse side of the jardinière/vase is done in hand painted roses bouquets that are different on the both sides. The jardinière is circa 1888 to 1920 according to the bottom mark. It is numbered and signed. It measures 7" high or 8.5" to the end of the handles and 9" long at the base(16" with the handles) It is 6.5" wide and it is 2 kilos The jardinière/vase is in great antique condition with very little crazing on the bottom. And some dark spots inside. Overall, it is exclusive piece and spectacular example of antique pottery. It will be a great addition to any collection or an unforgettable gift for the coming holidays. This Japanese jardiniere measures approx. 14" high x 14" across. There is one broken off horn of the main dragon but not very noticeable. This item weighs about 40 lbs. The Top opening is 6 3/4" the Bottom rim 4 1/4" Features two different HANDPAINTED insets, one is a SEAPORT scene, SAILBOATS, etc. and the other is the shoreline including WINDMILL, HOUSES, TREES. The balance of the jardiniere is covered with nice floral design. It is in Very Good condition, no cracks stains or repairs(there is age crazing and a small chip on the base rim where it sits) Fully marked"Royal Bonn Delft" along with several numbers that represent the mold and/or shape. An extraordinary and rare example of a large 17" x 9" jardinière/ planter oblong shaped with rounded edges and decorated with 4 sculptured ram's heads at the four corners. Made of all white ceramic porcelain with ornately sculpted handles are on either side. Underside has four ornately decorated ball feet. The jardinière was made in Spain during the late 1950's by Casa Pupo Ceramics. The original CASA PUPO SPAIN trade mark stamp with a fish in the centre is on the underside. It is without any stains and ... morein beautiful vintage condition aside from a couple of very small firing flaws and very minor flea bites. The outlining of the lilies and leaves are in relief on the front and as well on the back. It has been painted in soft colors. The glazing is quite glossy and of a very high quality. Antique Lrg Numbered 12" Hi Black Porcelain Jardiniere Hand Painted Red Roses
Very nice old numbered in gold at the bottom jardiniere in solid good condition. It measures 12" high and 11-5/8" wide at its top. It has some crazing under the blaze at its bottom; however. Overall it is solid, strong and ready for many years of continued use. The roses are hand painted with green and gold vines and leaves. There is gold finish around the top rim with wear into the gold as would be expected in a piece this old. There are some minor scratches in the black finish. but insignificant overall. I set it on a plant base for several photos; however, the pot is sold alone.
