The painting depicts a pastoral scene. Sheep and cows are grazing in the fields with very steep mountains in the background. Most likely the Alps. A white farmhouse with a red roof is nestled into the trees. A small stream winds near the house and by a simple fence. The top and bottom of each urn is burgundy with fancy gold work, including detailed swags of flowers on the bottom. Gilded raised white and red beading border the center. The sturdy handles have a scroll design with tasteful gold work. These would make great planters or would be a lovely mantle decoration. The planters are marked ... morewith an S for Sevres. Planter Has Restoration Please be patient there are 12 photos to be loaded in this auction. In this auction we have a rare antique pottery jardiniere ... moreand stand. This is unusual in that the lines are simple. And so is the glaze at first glance, though there is a depth to the color. The simple lines and single color are a departure from what you normally find from age of jardinieres. We were not able to identify the maker, who left no identifying marks that we could find, but the color of green glaze is consistent with the late 19th century. The stand itself measures approx. 21" tall and 12" in diameter, the jardiniere measures approx. 14½" in diameter by 10¾" tall. There is general cracklature to the glaze and there is a restoration to the rim of the planter. They still have a lot of life left in them, ready to grace your porch or sunroom, bringing in a splash of Victorian style and bright colorful flowers should you choose to fill this with an abundance of blooming plants. Pair of Sevres Porcelain Jardinieres. Late 19th c Two footed. Shaped, oval, soft-paste porcelain pieces featuring a surrounding reserve with central cartouches filled with multi-colored floral sprays. The cartouches are bordered by painted gilt outlines and a wreath-like leaf pattern. One jardiniere has a painted floral spray on the interior bottom(see photo) The exterior ground on both is royal blue with a flower-dot pattern.
