Old Vintage Nursery Lamb Planter - Maker Mark / Made in Japan
Offered is an adorable vintage planter that would be a very sweet addition for a baby nursery. This hand painted lamb planter is beautifully designed with wonderful attention to detail. As shown in photo 2. There is an old maker's mark stamped onto the lamb's leg. The only part I can make out clearly is JAPAN and 579X. There is also an imprint with maker's symbol and 579X on the underside of the lamb's mid-section. Estimated circa 1940s and as shown in very nice vintage condition throughout. Posture is somewhat cartoonish. Dates back to the 1940's I believe? No maker mark. Closest I could find on the Antique and Vintage Pottery identification type websites was the Cameron Pottery. Stands 8 and 1/2 inches tall. Good condition. ANTIQUE WEDGWOOD FINE PLANTER JAR VASE BLUE WHITE FLORAL ENGLAND RD MARK 19C
Description: This auction is for an antique estate Wedgwood England fine planter jar flower vase. Which is white with cobalt blue floral decor. The bottom of the jar has an English impressed 19C RD registration mark, which is hard to read. Earthenware was one of the types of articles in which the date of manufacture was placed. Because I am unable to read the mark it could date from between 1842-1883. However this impressed Wedgwood name was used in the latter half of the 19th century. There are other numbers and letters that are also impressed and may possibly read F U VI. There is a shelf inside the jar with five holes, a side drain hole as well. The jar measures approximately 5 inches tall, 3 1/4 inches wide, 2 1/4 inches across the bottom base. The jar is in good antique estate condition as follows; GOOD-NO REPAIRS. ONE OF THE CORNERS. ... moreAT THE TOP, BY ONE OF THE SEAMS HAS A SMALL CRACK AND A SMALL CHIP, WHICH DOES NOT AFFECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE PIECE. EXCEPT FOR A TINY PITTING HOLE THERE ARE NO OTHER CRACKS OR CHIPS. WEAR IS CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THE PIECE. NOTE THAT THERE ARE HOLES ON THE SHELF PORTION, AND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A PLUG AT ONE TIME FOR THE SIDE DRAIN HOLE. THE JAR NEEDS CLEANING AND I WILL LET YOU DO THAT. Also offered on our Ebay listing, this large, graceful planter was made during the same era by the same manufacturer, Boch Freres. Although this planter and our vase have different marks, they share the same exquisite design, with period elegance in its graceful design and the rich ... moretones of its enamels. This planter has the wolf mark, Keramis Made In Belgium, for Boch Freres. It was made in the early 20th century. The enamel design is textural ~ the turquoise dots can be felt as well as seen. The green is deep forest and its interplay with both the turquoise dots and the gilding is rich and striking. The detail on the applied handles is in a stylized acanthus leaf design, distinctive of the exceptional Boch attention to detail. The condition of this planter is very good. There is mild. Anticipated fading or wear to the gilding in some areas, and you can see this in our photos. Two of the turquoise dots have been flaked off, leaving the white case visible. Other than that, there are no imperfections ~ no hairlines, no cracks, no holes, no staining. A bit of attic dust in the very bottom interior, which can be cleaned. An outstanding piece in every way. Not to be missed. 8" tall including handles; 15 3/8" wide; front to back is about 9" deep. This is a heavy planter, weighing over 5 pounds unpacked.
