An outstanding feature is that it was made in 1785 and is approximately 228 years old! The English silversmith hallmarks along the bottom edge spell out its unique history. Maker's Mark: Bold initials"RH" in an oval escutcheon. Granted in 1783 to the maker, Robert Hennell Silver Mark: Lion Passant- sterling silver content.925 Date Letter: Small letter"k" in a shield-like escutcheon. Equals 1785 date of assay in London City Mark: crowned leopard's head" means London was place of manufacture Duty Mark: left facing profile of George III" from Dec 1784 to May 1786 indicated duty was paid The piece stands about 2 inches high on 4 ball and claw feet. It is 3 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide. The entire salt cellar weighs approximately 6 ounces. With the silver frame at 2 ounces and the glass insert at 4 ounces. The silver frame has beautiful lattice work along the upper perimeter. Topped off by an elegant edge trim. Along the sides, is the graceful engraving into the silver of a garland of roses, intertwined with a ribbon. Also, one side is engraved a capital letter"B" and the other side has a design resembling a clock face. There was no indication of any defects or scratches on the silver frame. The cobalt blue insert. Has an amazing color, especially when held up to sunlight or other bright light. At the bottom of the insert is an etching of an eight pointed star. This refracts the light passing through, enhancing its beauty. There is a 3/4 inch imperfection and a small chip on the bottom outside edge of the insert. Offered in this sale is a wonderful French art pottery jardiniere that was made by Sarreguemines in the later 1800s. It is marked on the underside of the base with an impressed mark which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. It measures roughly 9" tall x 11" in diameter at its widest and weigh close to seven pounds. The diameter across the top opening is just under 9 1/2" The decoration features gold gilt over swirled bands of cobalt blue and maroon. The condition is very good. This is a really nice Cobalt blue(nautical collectible) boat planter. There are no makers marks on the boat. But I believe it is from the 50's. There is one small chip by the horizontal foot under the boat. Other than that the planter is is great shape. It is 9 inches long by 3 1/4 inches wide and stands 2 3/4 inches tall. nice size at 8 1/2 inch high and 10 across top the widest part about 12 across. there are small specks of gold around the upper rim outside the glaze is very dark cobalt blue the raised designs just barely show through. it has minor craze to finish inside not all oxidized or minerals there are no visible markings underneath. it is not chipped this is a nice old heavy weight piece. not a thin new reproduction

This is a wonderful old porcelain jardiniere/compote/planter. I believe it is English pottery. And dates back to the early 1900's. A dark cobalt is the color of the jardiniere, and with the flash it shows a bit brighter. It stands 9 1/2 inches tall and is 12 inches wide. The opening is 9 1/2 inches in diameter. It measures 11" tall to the top of the handles. 15" across the top rim including handles, and 11 3/4" across the rim not including the handles. It weighs 12 lbs prior to packaging. It is tough to find information on this, but from what I could find on the internet, this dates circa 1880's. It is marked on the bottom Etruria 2998. It has a beautiful floral scene on each side with what looks like poppies and daisies. The gold leaf around the top rim has mostly worn off. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The glaze has crazing which can be seen primarily inside and on the bottom where it is white glaze. There is an X in the glaze on the bottom underneath, but it is just the glaze, as it doesn't ... moreshow up on the inside of the pot. Really a fabulous piece! This auction is for a Lovely Antique Porcelain Cobalt Blue Jardiniere and Pedestal Beautifully Molded and Designed with Gold accents. With its Bold Colors and Unique Shape. The piece Displays Wonderfully. Together, it stands 28 inches tall, There is age-appropriate loss of the gold accent design throughout. There are no chips or cracks or damage to the jardiniere. There is crazing and a few small rust marks on the inside bottom(see photo 9) The jardiniere measures 12 1/2 inches across and 9 inches tall. The pedestal is build in three pieces and connected with a nut and a rod. It measures 19 inches tall and 10 3/4 inches across. The pedestal has loss of the gold design.
