I have seen somewhat similar plant stands described as being Neoclassical. Edwardian, Louis XIV, Louis XVI, Empire or Louis Philippe. I am truly out of my element here! English? French? I simply do not know. I do not find any makers marks on it and I don't know when or where it was made. Based on some of its construction details thou gh, I think it likely it dat es from the early part of the 20th c entury. The stand is tight and sturdy an d t here are no repairs on it. I can find only one s pot on the corner edge of a leg where there is a small area w here the wood is chippe d. Personally I wouldn't touch it- I' d just turn the stand so it was on the least visible side. The big gest condition issue I see is that the original finish has some whit ish areas from age deterio rat ion. I believe that the finish is lacqu er. And simply respraying it with a fresh coat of lacquer would soft en and meld into t he original finish to restore it. As such, I have avoided putting any thing on it that would reduce the effectiveness of a simple lacquer recoat. I am willin g to pack and ship this plant stand and ship it as is stated in my shipping terms. I am a very careful packer and have packed and shipped a great many fragile items. Magnificent Victorian Hand Painted Pottery Jardiniere Great Colors 19th Century
This auction is for a Fabulous Hand Painted Antique Victorian Pottery or Earthenware Jardiniere. With its bold colors of Cinnamon and Cobalt and its heavily Molded Form. This Jardiniere would instantly become the Decorative focal point of any room. I have owned/sold many Jardiniers over the years but this one is among the most beautiful and uniquely designed. Around the pot. There are 6 Cartouches with images of white flowers against a Cobalt Background. The cartouches are separated by highly molded Victorian Floral and Leaf Motif in the color of Cinnamon. There are no makers marks or stamps. Other than a handwritten number on the bottom: 975. By the form and feel and styling. I believe it dates to the early to mid 1800s. It could be French, but I believe it more likely to have been made by one of the number of British Potters from the Burslem ... moreor Staffordshire areas of England. It is in Remarkable Condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or hairlines or stains or damage. The colors are Vivid and really POP. There is age appropriate wear of the gold accent paint at the top edges and fine. Even crazing that can be seen only on the off-white inside and the bottom, not on the painted outside. It only adds to the character and authenticity of this Great Find. The Jardiniere measures about 9 1/4 inches tall and is about 8 1/2 inches wide at the mouth. Offered in this sale is a wonderful French art pottery jardiniere that was made by Sarreguemines in the later 1800s. It is marked on the underside of the base with an impressed mark which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. It measures roughly 9" tall x 11" in diameter at its widest and weigh close to seven pounds. The diameter across the top opening is just under 9 1/2" The decoration features gold gilt over swirled bands of cobalt blue and maroon. The condition is very good. Up for auction is what I have identified by the mark on the bottom. Is an Ott& Brewer Etruria Pottery of Trenton, NJ Jardiniere Planter. This jardiniere is in excellent condition. It has a green transferware pattern all the way around with a very intricate floral design. It has embossed bands of leaves and has two embossed marblized bands in a brown shade separating the floral design. It has minor gold wear- nothing distracting. It is clean, with some glaze pops inside. Marked on the bottom Etruria in red over glaze with a 2921 gold decorators mark. It measures 11" handle to handle and stands approximately 8 3/8" tall. Beautiful vintage English pottery jardiniere with a raised design of seashells. Realistically hand painted and glazed. Vintage-maybe antique-I purchased it from an antiques dealer and have owned it for 40 years. The colors are tans. Browns, greys, mossy green, deep rust, deep rose-all natural seashell colors. A beautiful deep cream color inside and out. Each shel design is individually painted under the glaze. The bottom is impressed 4156 and MADE IN ENGLAND. There is also a maker's mark. But I cannot read it. I suspect that it is Victorian, from the era of their fascination with exotic nature-but I cannot say for sure. 6.75" diameter across the top. 4.5" diameter across the base, 5.5" high. Offered is this beautiful Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company of Roseville Ohio. Art Deco Style Ceramic Jardiniere Planter and Matching Pedestal. Markings: R R P CO ROSEVILLE OHIO NO 153 Features: 7 1/2 inch tall by 9 1/2 inch diameter planter weighing 9 pounds 9 ounces. With 6 pound 15 ounce 14 1/4 inch tall pedestal. Overall height measures 21 1/2 inches. Each is decorated with embossed Art Deco style leaves and flowers with a high gloss green and brown glaze. Both pieces carry the RPP mark. Condition: There is an old chip on the bottom rim of the planter that was touched up with green paint. It is not visible when the planter is sitting on the pedestal. The pedestal itself measures 24 ½ inches or 62 cm high. The planter measures 10 ¼ inches or 22 high to the top rim. And is 13 inches or 33 cm at its widest. The jardinière and pedestal features shades of green glaze with yellow highlights throughout. The pedestal is column form with Greek key and heart designs. This is unusual in that the lines are simple. And so is the glaze at first glance, though there is a depth to the color. The simple lines and single color are a departure from what you normally find from age of jardinieres. We were not able to identify the maker, who left no identifying marks that we could find, but the color of green glaze is consistent with the late 19th century. The stand itself measures approx. 21" tall and 12" in diameter, the jardiniere measures approx. 14½" in diameter by 10¾" tall. There is general cracklature to the glaze and there is a restoration to the rim of the planter. They still have a lot of life left in them, ready to grace your porch or sunroom, bringing in a splash of Victorian style and bright colorful flowers should you choose to fill this with an abundance of blooming plants. Very nice old numbered(in gold at the bottom) jardiniere in solid good condition. It measures 12" high and roughly 12" wide at its top. It has some crazing under the glaze at its bottom. However, overall it is solid, strong and ready for many years of continued use. The roses are hand painted with green and gold vines and leaves& gold finish around the top rim with wear into the gold as would be expected in a piece this old.
