Offered is a fabulous antique French ART NOUVEAU JARDINIERE or CACHE POT. PLANTER from SAINT AMAND, FRANCE. This factory was established in 1718 by PIERRE-JOSEPH FAUQUEZ. It was located in the north east of France. They made soft paste porcelain in the SEVRES style from 1815 to 1877. This beautiful antique jardiniere features not only and ART NOUVEAU theme. But also an ART NOUVEAU shape! The mouth to this jardiniere fans out like a flower and the two handles become flowers. It has a pierced rim in the front and back. It has a deep purple to a lilac purple background which features white. ... morePurple, green and yellow flowers with green leaves on both the front and back with gold highlights. This is a very imposing piece in size as it measures 11 INCHES TALL and 15 INCHES WIDE. The foot measures 7.5 INCHES WIDE by 5.5 INCHES front to back. Large Majolica Jardiniere Planter Drip Glaze
It is a solid planter. It does have overall crazing. A surface glaze crack near the bottom that does not show on the inside(see photo) and a 1" hairline on the inside rim. The underside has some numbers and letters that I can't make out. Measures apx. 9 1/2" tall and 9 3/4" across the top rim. The coIors are browns and greens and the glaze is shiny. The pedestal itself measures 24 ½ inches or 62 cm high. The planter measures 10 ¼ inches or 22 high to the top rim. And is 13 inches or 33 cm at its widest. The jardinière and pedestal features shades of green glaze with yellow highlights throughout. The pedestal is column form with Greek key and heart designs. Antique English Victorian Majolica Jardiniere & Pedistal clate 1800's
Offered to grace any room of your home is this absolutly fabulous antique Victorian majolica jardiniere planter and pedistal. Made in England in the last quarter of the 1800's. The jardiniere planter is marked on the bottom with the numbers'1364' impressed in the clay. The pedistal is marked in several places with an English registration number of'Rd.285.461' Rd' stands for'Registered Design' and the numbers date this to have been made between 1896-1897. The jardiniere planter is very large and dramatic with elaborate roses and flower swags on both sides in haut-relief along with acanthus leaves. Garlands and other classic Renaissance motifs. This jardiniere is in rich warm green and gold ocher colors with a brilliant Robin Egg turquois blue interior and rim. It measures 16 inches wide at its widest outside ... morepoints. 12.5 inches tall and the open mouth is just over 11 inches wide. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The only thing I could find is a faint line on the bottom of the planter which is common with antique majolica items of this size and age. The pedistal is in the shape of a Greek Corinthian column on the top with fluting that travels downward to three large ornate feet. The top of the pedistal has a beautiful raised motif that reminds me of the many European stained glass cathedral windows. The pedistal measures 36 inches tall. BURMANTOFTS FAIENCE#1888 England JARDINIERE Majolica AQUA THISTLE Pattern mouseover to enlarge This is an amazing jardiniere made in England by Burmantofts Pottery in the late 1800's shape#1888. It measures 11" high by 10 1/2" across and has a 5 3/4" diameter base. The raised thistle design with leaves and pods is used throughout with the thistle flower at the top rim. The pods forming the center band, and 2 rows of leaves and stems. It has a deep aqua glaze with a white glaze background. It is in very good condition as there are no chips or cracks. I see a small(not through) spider mark on bottom as shown in pics and the interior has some gentle crazing as shown. History of Burmantofts Pottery Burmantofts Pottery. As it is usually known, was only actually called Burmantofts for a very short period of the ninety-nine year ... morethat the company was producing ceramics. Originally established by William Wilcock and John Lassey, it was set up in the Burmantofts district of Leeds, Yorkshire in 1845. The two men intended to mine coal on the site they had bought, which they did for thirteen years, but they found clay there and in 1858 started to use it for making bricks and pipes. John Lassey died that year, but his wife carried on in his stead and the company was known as Wilcock& Co. In 1863 Margaret Lassey sold her share to John Holroyd. Who passed the management of the company seven years later to his son Ernest. Ernest, in turn, gave way to his brother James in 1879. By this time both William Wilcock and John Holroyd had died. James started the production of'architectural faience' and during the next decade the company started producing vases, jardinieres and suchlike. The new ranges sold well and in 1888 the company opened its own showroom in London and changed its name to The Burmantofts Company. The outside design consists of long stemmed flowers and leaves; the interior of the jardiniere is cobalt blue. The jardiniere measures 10 inches high and 11 inches in diameter; the stand is 18 inches high. Both pieces are in mint condition and it's rare to find a jardiniere of this age with no mineral deposits or rust within its interior. Splendid and rare antique large French majolica jardiniere planter circa 1880-1900. This item is extremely rare to find. The decoration is a hunting scene probably in North Africa( Algeria) where the last lions were killed during the French colonial period from 1830. The item is in very good condition for its age with no cracks. No chips, no hairlines, no repairs or discoloration. There are only some tiny scratches of the glaze on the handles, on the base and on the back( see the pictures) but nothing serious. The maker is unknown but probably this beautiful piece is from Onnaing or Orchies or Sarreguemines.All of them famous French factories. Made by the Saint Clement company in the East of France and very near Luneville. It is marked on the bottom with an impressed"526 St. Clement France" in the clay. It features an oval shape. A scalloped rim and has five sunflowers and two buds with green leaves on both sides. It also has little red flowers peppered throughout, just lovely! The pedestal measures approx. 27" tall by 16" at it's widest and 15 1/2" deep. We are calling it shabby chic due to multiple restorations that have occurred over the years. The planter has a few small chips to the rim and uniform crazing in the glaze. The pedestal has restoration to a crack along the top and to one leg that has been broken. Rare, Early, Unmarked Verified Weller Colored Glaze Jardiniere Majolica Style
Rare and Lovely S.A. Weller Pottery Co. Colored Glaze 9 1/2" Jardiniere I have never seen another Weller jardiniere like this listed anywhere. Antiques. Gardening, and collectibles seem to go together, and the Weller Pottery Company, Ohio, made a great number of"crossover" collectibles. This lovely jardiniere would work beautifully outdoors or indoors, gracing the space you choose. Jardiniere stands approximately 9 1/2" high and about 11" in diameter. The jardiniere is unmarked. Jardiniere features a Majolica coloring glaze in shades of green. Brown, gold, and cream. This glaze has been called Colored Glaze and I have also seen King Colored Glass. Jardiniere has a matte brown finish on the underside of the base. Characteristic of early Weller pieces. Jardiniere has been confirmed via The Collectors Encyclopedia of ... moreWeller Pottery by Sharon and Bob Huxford. 1979. Ivory Jardiniere with same design can be found on page 139. A manufacturer's page provided by the Ohio Historical Society in the same book, page 140, provides another picture of a larger jardiniere in the same design. Jardiniere has overall crazing. Both inside and out. It also has some calcium deposits around the base and on the interior that have left white marks, and have removed some of the glaze. Most noticeable is on the inside, towards the bottom. There are glaze pops around the outer lip, and one tiny fleabite on the top lip. There are manufacturer glaze skips around the base. There are also some chips around the underside of the base that can not be seen unless the piece is held upside down. These are not imperfections but rather age spots that attest to the vintage of this beautiful piece. Comes from a smoke free home. We are happy to combine shipments when possible. Check out my!
