They have played a central role in 20th century history of the country. They waged the longest war of resistance to French colonization of any West African people. The Baule belong to the Akan peoples who inhabit Ghana and West Coast. According to a legend, during the 18th century, the queen, Abla Poku, had to lead her people west to the shores of the Comoe, the land of Senufo. In order to cross the river, she sacrificed her own son. This sacrifice was the origin of the name Baule, for baouli means“the child has died. Now about one million Baule occupy a part of the eastern coast between the Komoé and Bandama rivers that is both forest and savanna land. These are a pair of BEAUTIFUL 19th century Continental Adams Style ANTIQUE Candlesticks.They are AUTHENTIC.You can see the seam where the corners meet. One appears to have been cleaned. But the other has not been. They are GEORGEOUS. they have a hallmark on ther bottom, but I have not been able to find the Maker. They are silver over Copper. and They are very old. I have done a lot of research on them and There was a pair exactly like them on Ruby Lane with the same Hallmark, and I have not seen this hallmark anywhere else. They are Adams style with the Rams heads, and are Beautifully crafted. This is a great deal for these. MUST SEE. They are Edwardian style non-weighted Columnar Candlestick in the Robert Adams Style. Antique 19th Century FRENCH Ciel de Lit Canopy Corona RAMS Heads
Antique French Ciel de Lit with four rams heads and Greek key design along the exterior perimeter. The canopy is 16 inches in diameter. Each beautifully detailed ram is 2 1/2 by 3 inches. Metal appears to be brass or bronze plated not sure but it has a lovely aged patina. Lace fabric, ivy or any of the other items are not included in this auction, only the Ciel de lit. This is a beautiful. Unique piece! It could be used as a centerpiece, display item, candy bowl, etc. It was reproduced in 1880s Europe to emulate the famous Sevres style. Most likely produced in France or Germany. It is hand painted with the Dresden floral glazed patterns. There are three bronze ram heads that really make this bowl interesting. There is a mark inside the lid that we have not been able to identify exactly but it seems to relate to where it was made. It measures 10-1/2" tall, 26-1/2" around at the widest part, and the base is a little more than 16" around. There are no chips or cracks. There is some minor wear on the marble base and some minor marks on the part of the bowl where the rim of the lid meets the bowl. Colors have remained quite vibrant! The bracelet weighs 14.4 pennyweights and measures 2 1/2 inches across on the outside and 2 1/8 inches across inside the tube. And the ram's heads measure 3/4 inches across and 1/2 inch high at the horns. There is a small plaque impressed with"Pat May 8 81" next to the spring loaded hinge. The hinge works smoothly and with good spring action. There's quite a bit of pitting through to the brass under-metal on the inner face of the tube at the bottom of the bracelet near the hinge and a bit of wear through the gold surface below the neck on one side, otherwise in very good antique condition. Incredible Limoges triple portrait lamp Bronze Ormalu rams heads
Here is the best Limoges lamp I have seen! It has three different portraits hand painted onto three sections that are separated by rams heads in an ormolu mount as you see in other great fine victorian art nouveau pieces. It stand at 23 inches to the top and is adjustable slightly up or down. It has two pull chain sockets which I am changing back to an antique set. Some one put new ones on and that is not good enough I want it to period, so it will come with two old perfect working pull chain sockets. I mentioned one small hard as heck to see hairline by one of the rams heads, looks to be in the glaze but I mention it so you know its there. The paintings are incredible and could have only been done by a master painter as they are perfectly done and very detailed. This is a Labb é Fran ç ois Curacao Malta miniature liquor bottle. It has a stone gray base color with brown neck and base. And a ring of flowers and"L'abbe Francois France" signed in dark blue. There are rams heads on opposite sides of the neck. Made in France, marked on the bottom#6. L'Abb é Fran ç ois is in Voiron. About 25 kilometers away from Chartreuse where monks made the famous liqueur. François Labbé set up his own distillery doing a similar liqueur. They made a great variety of liqueurs: Cognac, brandy, cordials. This miniature bottle measures about 4-3/4" tall(120mm) Condition is really nice: no chips or cracks or crazing. A very solid piece. 3 very decorative Antique gilt brass ormolu Ram's heads. These Ram's heads came off a Victorian wooden bowl which was past saving. The bowl had a reg no. for around 1880. They were attached to the bowl with the nut and bolt which protrudes from the back of the rams head. They are so decorative and would have many uses today. Condition. All 3 are in very good condition with no damage. Approx Size. Length in a straight line from tip of mouth to tip of horn 2 inches. Max height(excluding nut and bolt) just under 1.5 inches. We haven't cleaned or worked on this antique B&H oil or kerosene banquet lamp at all and as you can see it needs restoration. It has been electrified at some time in the past and can no longer be used as an oil lamp. The socket is loose and the wiring old and it also needs to be re electrified. The lamp is marked on the top of the font with the"B&H" trademark. The lamp was originally silverplated. The original plating appears to be fairly intact on the font. Font holder and pedestal. The silverplating is almost entirely worn on the base(other sides are more worn than the side shown in photos) The base has a ram's head on each corner and there are faces in the center of two sides. The lamp has no breaks or dents but the chimney ... moreprongs are missing and there is a hole in the screening on the burner(bottom photo) It is a large heavy lamp that is 7" square at the base, 19 1/2" tall to the top of the burner and weighing 8 pounds. I have never seen another example like this with a Cut Glass Dome and Dish. Being a very Rare find I am sure. The Butter Dish is made exactly like the large Revolving Top Breakfast Dishes but on a much smaller scale. The Silver Plate frame is quite fabulous with Figural Rams Head and Hoof Feet. The Dome and Dish are very nicely Cut Clear Glass with fine details throughout. The Silver is not marked so it is hard to Date it but the family said it belonged to their late Mother and has always been in the home, I would say at least 75 years old if not much more. The Butter Dish is in very good all original condition with a few wear spots to the Silver Plate and the Glass Dish inside shows so wear and small chipping around the top edge. The Dish also does not sit perfectly inside but I am sure the Silver frame just needs a slight adjustment and none of that is seen when just on display. The Butter Dish displays beautifully measuring 9" wide by 5-3/4" tall and is also a great size for modern use as well. We are happy to be able to offer an exceptional English regency mahogany stool or bench made for one after a design by Thomas Hope(1769- 1831) by an unknown but highly skilled cabinetmaker attested by the unbelievable carving of the four rams heads and hairy cloven feet. Born into a wealthy Amsterdam merchant and banking family. Thomas Hope inherited a love of the arts from his mother, and the wherewithal from his father and grandfather to indulge his interests in art and architecture, and after relocating in London after fleeing the French occupation of the Netherland in 1795- 1810, he never returned. He toured Europe, studying architecture and design, and collecting antiquities and art. Antique German Decorative Stoneware Tureen With Rams Heads
For sale is a very rare and beautiful estate find. This is a decorative German stoneware tureen. I don't know much about this type of crockery. It was found in a very wealthy southern estate and was appraised at $1500. It measures 15 inches tall from base to the top of the finial and 15 inches wide at the handles. It is signed on the bottom in two different places as shown in the photos. The colors are very rich and bright. It is in great condition with no chips. Breaks, or cracks. A rarely seen ovoid shaped vase. With a gold rams head on both sides. Handpainted scenic pictures on both sides, with a uniquely-patterned vase neck. On the vase neck are symbols of a horse on one side, and a bird on the back side. The entire neck portion is cobalt blue, with gold beaded accents. The mark on the bottom is#47"Hand Painted. This absolutely beautiful KPM 24-120 VASE WITH RAMS HEADS ON TWO SIDES is in pristine condition. It has no chips. Cracks, crazing, or misses pieces. It is a white vase trimmed in gold. It has arrangements of flowers on both sides of the vase with the colors of light pink, dark pink, fuchsia, yellow and green for the leaves. It measures 7" tall and 6" wide. KPM stands for Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur(Royal Porcelain Factory) in Berlin. 1763 to 1837— Berlin porcelain was marked with the sceptre mark in blue under glaze. The Berlin sceptre mark was introduced when Frederick the Great bought the factory. In this period the sceptre was shown with a horizontal bar. Huge and elegant antique brass chandelier with 10 arms in two tiers of 5 lights loaded with prisms. Chandelier measures 24" in diameter and 24" tall plus 2-1/2" ball on bottom and about 14" of chain. It has crown on top with 4 rams heads and 12 prisms. There is another piece below it with rams heads and 8 prisms. There are 7 prisms on each of the 10 bobeches and then a piece on the bottom with 8 prisms. The chandelier has been polished but still retains a deep rich patina. There are new wires and sockets and sleeves. The original prisms have been cleaned and some wires replaced and put back on. Really rare piece that would add a dramatic glow to any room with light reflecting from the prisms during daylight and from the many lights in the evening. Antique Silver Plate Centerpiece/Candy Dish with Rams' Heads and Feet, Marked
Antique Silver Plate Centerpiece with Three Rams Heads and Feet. This odd item has a triangular base and feet On top of the base are three ram's heads. Each supported by legs and hooves with garlands. The heads have garlands of roses between them. Note: As a farm veterinarian. I can say that the feet are very pretty but not particularly goatlike. To my eye, they look like a horse's hoof with a line down the center. I can imagine the artist's wife smacking her silversmith husband upside the head and saying, What are you thinking? Goats have cloven feet! And the artist, fearful of another swat, tried to fix the problem. On top is a circular flat bowl. So I would suppose this is a candy dish of sorts. At the very bottom are three silverplate screws holding it together. On the bottom of the base are the initials G.S. and what looks ... morelike an eye underneath a mitten and within an oval Despite spending a considerable amount of time with Dr. Google. I have no idea who G.S. is, or why there is an eye and a mitten on the base. Perhaps it isn't a mitten. And two nicely worked rams' heads, one on either side of the pot, well bolted in. The pot is all hand painted on a white background with garlands of roses and sprigs of pink and blue flowers including blue forget-me-nots. And blue ribbons. One garland is crossed with a bow and arrow; the other garland is crossed with two flaming torches. There is a drain hole in the center of the base. Please scroll down to see our photographs. It stands on four hoof feet above chased ram's heads and has a band of laurel leaves around the bottom rim. The body of the jug is decorated with chased children with leaves and flowers. The top ... morerim has chased ribbons. The jug is 4-5/8 inches/ 117 mm wide and 2-3/4 inches/ 70 mm deep. It stands 3 inches/ 76 mm high and weighs 148 grams. Antique 1800s Bronze Incense Burner Ornate W/Winged Cherub & Eagle & Rams Heads
Antique bronze incense burner. It stands 7" tall. The base is 4" across. It is very ornate and well detailed. The top has a winged cherub with an eagle. Under that are garlands of flowers with the head of a man with a flowing beard in between. There are three ram heads with beautifully curled, textured fur. In between the ram heads are three lovely child heads with grapes and leaves. There are three hoof feet. This stands on a rose marble base with a black marble base underneath. There is no name on this that I can find. There are a few tiny nicks to the marble. The bronze is in excellent condition. Thanks for viewing.

Antique Art Deco Nouveau Cast Iron Plant Stand Rams Heads Giraffe Motif
Up for sale is this unusual and fantastic antique plant stand or small table. It is made of cast iron. Likely had a bronze finish originally, looks like it may have been accentuated with some gold paint later in its life, so you have sort of a mixed finish on this between the bronze, iron and paint. The piece is unsigned, but no doubt is of high quality. It measures about 18 1/2" tall, about 14" across point to point on the top. It is missing what would have been either a glass or marble insert, that area is about 10" across point to point. This is a great antique table, worthy of having lots of eyes on it. I will likely disassemble this for safest shipping, it is only 9 screws total, and very simple.

This beautiful ROSE BOWL VASE needs a good cleaning because of tarnish and is actually made of Silver over copper. It will clean up fabulously. It has it's Crystal flower frog that is in excellent undamaged condition and the silver is worn only in the inside bottom of the vase from use. It measures 4 1/4" to the top of the frog and 3 3/4" in diameter. The Rams' heads and the hooves are finely detailed and the shoulder of the vase is reticulated. This is an older one by Cambridge. It's in very nice condition, no chips or cracks. It's a beautiful piece to add to a collection.
