1815 French Sterling Silver Beaded Velvet Coin Money Purse Napoleon I Era 1804-1815 Cast Christian Icons and Priestly Moral Reminders Fresh from a Central California estate sale comes this extremely rare. Unusual, and very exceptional antique purse from 200 years ago. This two-compartment antique sterling silver. Beaded, velvet, purse measures approximately 15 inches in length and is 7 inches wide. It weighs 301.5 grams, most of the weight(of course) being in the sterling silver. There is the possibility that the velvet and beads are more recent restorations, but I don't know. It just seems to me that 200-year-old velvet and beads would not be so"pristine. The inner lining appears to be original to the period. What the seller knows about silversmithing hallmarks would not cover a typical spoon handle cartouche. However. Hallmarks ... moreprovide all kinds of information worthy of consideration regarding the origin of any item. If you have information you could add value to this antique, please present it to the seller and he will share it with the community. This purse appears to have been made in France suggested by the French maker's mark. The import-guarantee of silver purity. Symbolized by the"Crown and TF, was used by the French between 1809 and 1819, only. This period of time corresponds exactly with the date hand-stamped on the back of the purse"1815. The single fancy"F" on the edge of the purse is another mark indicating import. A ship's anchor symbol is often seen in British sterling products, so it may have been imported to that country. Of course the"Lion Passant" is a mark typically seen on many British sterling goods. But not all-other symbols were also used(it gets very complicated, folks) The initials"T.H.D. were likely those of the owner. Which may have been a titled British royal. For your consideration a Victorian Antique STERLING SILVER CHATELAINE with 3 Chains. Each one holding something precious to the previous Owner some 125 years ago or so. It includes the pin itself which is marked Sterling and manages to have two either Serpent or Dragon Fish on either side of it. And also cut out Florals in the Center, scrolls on the Edge. It measures 3 1/4" x 2" The three chains hold a small coin purse. Crocheted I believe and decorated with marcasite or cut steel. The frame on the little purse must be Sterling too, but the inside of the frame so black I couldn't clean it off well enough to find a Sterling mark. It polished up like Sterling, and it Looks like Sterling,so it must be. The sweet coin purse measures 4 1/4" x 2 1/8" Then there's a lead pencil which may or may not still have lead in ... moreit. I see Sterling written at the bottom edge of it. Next a sweet little button hook which I have no doubt is Sterling too. But couldn't see the mark. Sterling Silver Art Deco Era Flapper coin dance purse. Has interior compartment revealing a section for powder. Mirror change slots and dance cards. Art Deco Pinstripe Sterling Silver Dance Coin Purse 1920s Betsch
This is a sterling silver coin purse or dance purse with the intitials“ GHB” monogram. It is stamped“sterling” on the inside edge. Inside are two pouches in soft. Tan leather and a beveled mirror in fairly good condition. One pouch pops out and the other has a fold-over cover. The latch closes perfectly and the halves line up perfectly. There are a couple of shallow dents on both sides which are hard to see and a number of scratches, but remember this is an old purse from the 1920s. It measures 4.25” x 3” x 3/4” deep. The chain is almost 6” beyond the purse. The most interesting thing about this purse is that on the back of the mirror is a handwritten message in pencil. Great care should be given to this inscription so as not to rub it off with the fingers. It is not completely clear what it says. C&C Sterling Silver 925; chainmail mesh coin purse; believed date 1927 This is a stunning Sterling Silver 925 coin purse. It is fully hallmarked but is not completely identified. Minor research suggests that this was a London made item in 1927. There is the marking C&C accompanied by a few other marks. I will do my best to picture these, some include the number 925 and word sterling. The coin purse has a small chain and has a clasp closure to keep the bag closed. The body of the purse is a chainmail mesh style. We can't say for definite what maker this is but are main thought is Cohen& Charles. Condition In good condition. Nothing appears to be broken. Has been owned and most probably used so will have signs of wear present. This will included scuffs. Stains and scratches. There doesn't appear to be any holes in the chainmail ... moremesh but there may be the odd link missing. Clamp closure still works as intended. I offer this fantastic sterling silver c.1890's-eary 1900's gem of a lady's little coin purse on a chain by E. J. Bass of New York. Held on a chain. It contains 3 spring loaded coin receptacles, a gilt compartment for the calling card or money bills with a loaded spring holder, a little mirror and under the mirror, a little note pad with a tiny mechanical sterling silver pencil, still with lead in it. This is one of the most complete and clever little purse we have ever come across. Marked patent applied for by the mirror and as shown with the maker's mark behind the card holder arm. Closes tightly, mirror closes tightly, spring arm works very well, pencil works, coin holders springs work well too. There are two hallmark stampings, one saying"Sterling Shell" which is underneath and being overlapped by"German Silver. I'm not sure how much or what area is sterling silver, but I would guess the inside where the coin holders and bracket are german silver. It is a really beautiful case with no monogram. Vintage Sterling SIlver Purse Coin Holder Powder Holder Original Patina
Here is a really great old sterling silver coin/powder purse with chain. All original the compact still has the unused makeup powder applicator. On the mirror frame it has'Pat Applied For' and on the money clip arm is stamped'85' Sterling' and the makers mark which looks like a fancy'JB' and EER behind the big JB, I just can't tell. There are 3 coin holders(quarter, nickel, dime it seems) most of these sterling pieces only have 2 coin holders. The coin holder and the money clip all w(and still original gold wash)work perfectly and on the inside is shiny, the outside has the old patina on it and it hasn't ever been engraved on the spot where it could be.
