VERY RARE This is a pair of STUNNING ANTIQUE VICTORIAN solid sterling silver grape scissors or grape shears which was made in Bristol. England in 1897 by the illustrious Victorian West Country silversmiths, George Maudsley Jackson and David Landsborough Fullerton of Josiah Williams& Company at their St Augustine's Parade workshops. They have beautifully decorated handles with bright cut decoration but are not engraved to the cartouches. Sterling Silver Handled Grape Shears Marked Germany On Cutting End /NR
I have here early sterling handled grape shears marked Sterling and there are initials at the top inside of the handle near where they are marked Sterling. The handles have raised relief leaves and grapes. The cutting end is marked Germany. They measure 6 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide across the handle. The grape shears blade does not come completely together at the end. I do not know if this is by design or there is a problem. Everything seems okay and they cut paper very well. For sale is a pair of antique grape shears or scissors. These lovely scissors were made by the Roger Williams Silver Company(c1900-1913) These shears have a lovely grapes. Grapevines, and grape leaves pattern on the handle, which is exceptionally detailed. The blades appear to be steel while the handles are weighted sterling silver. Overall it's in good shape, there's a bit of surface rust to the interior of the blades which could easily be removed or cleaned. It shows some minor wear but no major damage or misuse; really good for something over 100 years old. It measures 6 1/4" by 3 1/4" when closed. A very rare set of solid sterling silver grape shears/ scissors. They are hallmarked for Birmingham 1902 with the maker’s marks being L&S for Levi and Salaman. They were made to mark the coronation of King Edward VII. Their handles have been made in the form of the anointing spoon which was made in the 12 th century and is used as part of the coronation ceremony to symbolise the confirmation of the people’s choice– it now makes up part of the crown jewels. Rare Antique French mid 19th Century Silver Grape Shears by Emile Puiforcat
Here on offer is a rare antique French mid-19 th century silver grapes shears by Emile Puiforcat. These magnificent grape shears feature beautiful classical openwork handles in shallow relief. That terminate in generous elegantly plain quatrefoil finger loops. The shears have been made using steel. The finger loops are fully hallmarked with good crisp clear marks. Both carry the‘EP’ with a knife in a diamond for Emile Puiforcat. Who was based at 18 rue Chapon from 1857. Emile Puiforcat was one of the most renowned Parisian silversmiths and is highly sought after. The Minerva No1 mark has also been used twice, guaranteeing the highest quality of French silver, a mark used in Paris from 1835. The weevil mark has also been stamped on the loops, this was used on imported/exported objects, between 1864 and 1893. The grape shears are offered in ... moregood antique condition.
