Antique, solid silver Mappin& Webb three piece Christening Set presented in its original case with hallmarks from the Art Deco period of 1927. This pretty. Sweet set weighs 72g in total and consists of: One egg cup- 2.5” high. 33g weight One napkin ring- just under 2” diameter. Weight 24g One spoon- 4.5” long. Weight 15g. The egg cup and napkin ring both have the same wavy edges and raised ornamental bands(gadroons) around them. They are also decorated with a continuous pattern of vertical scored indentations on the bands. The egg cup and napkin ring both bear the same Mappin& Webb hallmark initials followed by an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office. A lion passant denoting solid English silver and the letter C in a shield for the year 1927. The ... morespoon bears the hallmark initials for Cooper Bros& Sons and is hallmarked from Sheffield. Also in the year 1927. Please see the photos for details. The solid silver on all the pieces is in excellent condition– we cannot find any dents or scratches. The box is also in very good condition for its age and bears the Mappin& Webb name and address on the internal ivory satin lining. The egg cup and napkin ring both have the engraving of the name‘June Sylvia’ in italics on them. On the egg cup it is about a quarter of an inch at its highest on the capital letter initials and about 1” across and a bit smaller on the napkin ring. The box is about 6” long and 5.5” at its widest point and the total weight of the set in the box is 248g. This really is a lovely Christening Set in excellent condition. This beautiful Christening set consists of a pretty fretwork child's fork and spoon in the original velvet lined case. The silver is marked for Sheffield. 1950 and the maker is C.B. S. The fretwork depicts a little figure wearing a hat and sitting on a rustic stool, they seem to be eating a pie- I think that it may be little Jack Horner! Selling a pretty sterling silver Christening Set with knife. Fork and spoon it has the Gorham hallmark lion, anchor and G. It was monogrammed on the handles, but from being used it's hard to make out the name. Each piece has a scene on the handle. The knife is 7 1/8" long and weighs 1.3oz. On the tip of blade it is bent and the handle has scratch marks dings and dents. On one side of handle there is a scene with a women holding a umbrella with dogs around her. The opposite side is a man on a horse chasing roosters. The blade has marked sterling on it. But the hallmark has worn off just the lion is there. The fork is 6" long and weighs 1.0oz. The handle has a Victorian little boy in hat holding a sail boat and on the back of handle maybe a fish. The back of handle is marked sterling with the hallmark. The silver is hallmarked for English sterling silver. Was assayed in Birmingham with the date letter for 2001. The knife has been assayed in Sheffield as the blade would have been made there. The fork measures 13cm/5" with the spoon measuring 13cm/5" The knife at 18 1/2cm/7 1/4" with a combined weight of 77.5g approx including the Sheffield plate blade on the knife. Victorian Silver spoon and fork christening set by George Maudsley Jackson of Bristol. Dated 1900. This set is in the original box and I am almost certain has never been used. There are no scratches or marks not even surface evidence of cleaning and I have not cleaned them. The box is in good condition for age. Bought in Wolverhampton and I was given them by the lady who bought them! Just been stored for all those years. From a smoke free home.
