Offering up an excellent sterling mesh purse. This one is in good condition and is large. Frame is 7 inches wide. When open it measures 4 inch from frame to frame(outside) The purse is around 7 inches deep from top of frame to bottom. There is a wavy pattern the extend a touch further. Total weight is around 170 grams. Chain is approximately 18 inches long. Mesh looks fully intact around frame. No significant damage. Marked sterling. With maker marks I can't decipher. This lovely antique sterling silver mesh ladies purse is a very elegant piece with a daintily engraved frame. Ball clasp and a pretty chain handle. Made in Germany, it's marked inside the frame as'Sterling' and bears a'butterfly' maker's mark, haven't identified it but it's found on other well-made purses, etc. in both silver and gold; the the other side is engraved inside with"Annie Baldwin Dec. 25, 1913" a special Christmas gift for a lucky lady. A nice size bag, the approximate measurements are: 5" across frame and 10" along the bottom of the mesh, so it drapes nicely; 5" from the top of the frame to the bottom of the mesh; the chain is 16-1/2" long, so if held at the center point, the top of the frame hangs about 8" below; there is a small loop inside to attach a change ... morepurse or other small accessory. It's in very good condition, with a lightly oxidized surface, the mesh is fairly dense and feels wonderful in the hand; the frame hinges and clasp work well. It is solid Sterling Silver. Everything is real pure silver(tested) From the top handle, to the Sterling chain to all the mesh. The labor that went into making this exquisite mesh purse is mind boggling. And it's is fantastic condition considering it's more than a century old. Near flawless condition(I saw one tiny jumpring missing on one side) If you line this with either white, cream or silver satin or velvet lining it will be devine. This is a chatelaine purse. The ring at the top would clip on to a belt or chatelaine or ribbon. The purse is approx 4" by 4" not including the handle. The entire purse and handle are sterling silver and quite heavy. There are silver marks inside the frame. The frame has lovely floral embossed design and a heart cartuche in the middle which is not monogrammed but could be. All the beads on the bottom are in tact and the closure is secure. Minor research suggests that this was a London made item in 1927. There is the marking C&C accompanied by a few other marks. I will do my best to picture these, some include the number 925 and word sterling. The coin purse has a small chain and has a clasp closure to keep the bag closed. The body of the purse is a chainmail mesh style. We can't say for definite what maker this is but are main thought is Cohen& Charles. Condition In good condition. Nothing appears to be broken. Has been owned and most probably used so will have signs of wear present. This will included scuffs. Stains and scratches. STERLING SILVER 1920'S MESH HANDBAG PURSE WITH CHAIN. This purse is in great condition. With only the very slightest indications(light superficial scratching on the back side of the frame) that it was ever used or carried. A 16" sterling link chain attached to the art nouveau styled frame. All of the mesh bag is in very, very good condition. I'm not going to guarantee that there aren't any damages to any of the thousands of tiny links, but I'm not fining any. The latch, with two beautiful light blue stones/gems/glass(I don't know which) works perfectly holding the frame snugly closed. While writing this listing and using a 10X loop, I discovered what may be a small chip in one of the stones/gems/glass pieces in the latch. The purse is in excellent condition without any holes and all the silver mesh links seem to be in good condition. The clasp and closing hinge are excellent and it is engraved with small flowers and leaves which are really elegant. The chain is about 17" long and all the links are in excellent condition. One of the best looking antique Art Deco sterling silver purses I have had the pleasure of seeing! Lovely mesh work. Detail across bottom resembling peacock feathers, nice detailing to the frame, and a small blue cabochon, sapphire? on the snap closure. Wristlet style strap for carrying. Minor areas in mesh are not perfect. But it is close, see photos and zoom! Without strap. Measures 6-3/4" by 3-1/2" The wristlet strap is about 6" in length. Antique Depose Sterling Silver Mesh Coin Purse. This is a French piece made in France. Measures 2 1/4" wide and 2 3/4" tall. It weighs 46.6 grams. Features a beautiful frame. On the sides where it meets the edges the mesh is starting to come apart because of the age and storage of this item. It can be repaired very easily and it's very inexpensive to do. The makers mark is MS in a Pyramid or Triangle. I have not found info on this maker. Looks to be a Very fine quality made piece. Measures about 4.25" wide x 4" Weight is 96 grams. Welcome Description. Beautiful sterling silver mesh purse featuring a chain link handle. It's made of sterling silver and has London England hallmarks for Birmingham 1923. The handle measures a total of 12 1/2" long(end to end) with a 5 3/4" drop. The purse measures 4" x 5" wide. The frame of the purse has a snap shut clasp that works fine. Interior is fully lined with a light buff colored chamois like fabric. Condition: Good noting a couple of small mesh defects at the side. The piece weights about 4.8 ounces or 135 grams on a postal scale. The exterior of the handle is marked once with"925" and the London assay office import stamp. Second time with the above plus the date letter"g" for the year 1922 and"C&C" which most likely stands for Cohen& Charles(Albert Cohen& Charles Soloman established in 1890, 1958 the business was bought by S.J. Rose& Sons Ltd) There ... moreis another mark that is too tiny to fully read it but if I am not wrong it says"Bauret M 925" and an image of an animal that looks like a fox. I am almost sure that this is a French silversmith maker but I could not fully identify it. The inside of the handle is also marked with"925" and another symbol that I cannot make. The item comes in very good condition for its age. There are no rips or tears on the mesh. No broken parts or dents. The clasp snaps as it should. Some normal vintage wear like dings and scratches but nothing major. Lovely patina that I'd prefer not to clean and let the future owner decode to do it or not.
