VINTAGE STERLING SILVER TABLETOP FRAME w OLD UNUSUAL TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPH
Description: Vintage sterling silver tabletop picture frame with an unusual type of old photograph in it. There is an openwork loop design going all the way around the frame. The picture is covered by glass. I assume it is a photograph but it has the look almost of a painting or pastel. This item measures 4-7/8 inches high X 3-7/8 inches wide. The actual viewable area measures 3-15/16 inches X 2-7/8 inches. This piece weighs a total of 69.5 grams. Condition: Two of the edging loops at 5 o'clock are pushed in a little bit. On one of those same loops. One of the solder points holding it to the main body of the frame is unattached; this is not noticeable on normal viewing and does not affect the stability of the frame at all since it is just decorative detailing. On the left side of the photograph there is one vertical scratch on the womans ... moreface going from the eye down to the shoulder, you can see this in the detail pictures. The back of the frame is covered with moss-colored velvet. The stand is also covered with velvet and is still very nicely affixed. The fabric between the backing and the stand is also still in very good condition. The frame stands very sturdily on your table top. There is a sterling silver tab on the back that is marked STERLING. I do not see a maker mark on this frame. Sometimes frames have a maker mark inside but We have not taken this item apart since we do not want to disturb anything. We are selling it as an unsigned piece. The sterling is darkened and we will ship it that way since many people want to retain patina on old silver pieces, and we leave all cleaning decisions up to the discretion of the buyer. VTG Gorham Newport Oval Footed Sterling Silver 925 Photograph Picture Frame 304R
Here we have a really beautiful simple Gorham Newport oval footed sterling silver photograph frame with soft silver pouch. This small vintage oval frame is very simple& elegant with smooth shiny surface and two ball feet. It measures 3 3/4" by 5 1/4" and has room for a small oval photo measuring 3" by 4 1/4" This upright sterling frame has an easel on the back and the entire back and easel is covered in green velour. It is hallmarked between the ball feet with"NEWPORT STERLING" 304R" and Newport was a trademark of Gorham out of Providence. RI. This piece has one or two very small dents. Light scratching from polishing, the glass is nice and the easel is solid. There is areas where the clear coat has warn off leaving spotting which is much more evident under magnification.
