The description follows the photos below This is a lovely antique solid sterling silver hip flask with bayonet lid and curved back. It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1923 with makers mark W.N. Ltd. 4" x 3.7" and it weighs 96.6g. It has been tested and does not leak and so can be used with confidence. There are some dents. The worst being on the back corners. Engraved with the name F.E. An Edwardian Solid Silver, Red Leather and Glass Hip Flask - B'ham 1907 Antique
A lovely Edwardian period hip flask. It is of compact size and the mount and cup are solid silver. The silver is hallmarked for Birmingham 1907 and the maker was Charles Westwood& Sons(of Hall Street. Birmingham) The upper flask area is covered in good quality thick red leather with a fine grain texture. The cap is a quality example and is of twist bayonet form, the mechanism and hinge are all fully functional. These hip flasks were for gentlemen to carry during the late Victorian and Edwardian period. And the cup allowed for a quick nip at anytime. They were often used during hunts and some were specifically designed for this purpose. The red leather is a very attractive feature on this item and not commonly found. Lovely Antique Solid Hallmarked Sterling Silver Hip Flask C1900 W&G Neal 146g
For sale I have this lovely antique solid hallmarked silver hip flask. The piece comes with a attached cork lined screw top lid. The hallmarks are quite rubbed but the makers mark is clear and is for W&G Neal who produced silver wares between 1887 and 1908 so the piece can be dated in this period. The piece was retailed by Winsor Bishop of Norwich. The piece measures 14cm/5.5" by 8cm/3" by 3cm/1 1/3" and weighs 146 grams approx. The condition is very good with a couple of very miner dinks but nothing that spoils the look or use of the piece. A lovely usable piece of antique silver. This top quality silver hip flask stands 125mm(5' high x 65mm(2.5' across the silver cup which weighs 49 grams. It is fully hallmarked to the bayonette lid and cup for solid English sterling silver London 1918 with the makers mark for the famous quality firm of Mappin& Webb. As you would expect it is very well decorated with the contemporary initials HSD to the centre of the lid surrounded by fine engine turning and a plain internally gilded cup which also bears the initials HSD. All on a good gauge of silver. There are several bruises to the silver top which I have photographed in 6,7&8 and I am sure these could be removed by a competent silversmith and no damage to the facet cut glass and cup and it is watertight and ready for use. Fantastic item I've never seen a vesta case like this before It has twist top just like most hip flasks with cork seal in the lid and strike plate to the bottom. Victorian solid silver drinks flask hip flask 1852
This is a mid Victorian solid silver pocket shaped hip flask which is hallmarked for Birmingham 1852. A good solid flask it has obviously had good use and must have been quite a favourite. Size; approx. 2.50 x 2.75 inch without the top. Weight; 78g. Condition; It is without holes or splits. The top screws on well. I think it would have had some cork inside the top but this is no longer there. Odd age related little dents and a couple of marks which need a further gentle polish. A nice early flask.

High quality piece of antique English solid sterling silver and military history from the Second Boer War. It is a curved. Pocket hip flask in solid silver with a twist action bayonet fitted lid and original cork lining in the top. This unique piece of antique silver clearly dates from the Second Boer War as. On the front, it has engraved“30-10-99” above a crown and then“TRANSVAAL” On the reverse is engraved“OTTAWA” There are also two sets of attractively engraved large initials in italics back and front. Also known as the Second Anglo-Boer War and the South African War, 11 October 1899- ... more31 May 1902 was the first major international conflict of the 20th century. The war was fought between the British Empire and the two independent Boer republics of the Orange Free State and the South African Republic(Transvaal Republic) After a protracted hard-fought war, the two independent republics lost and were absorbed into the British Empire. So this flask dates from the beginning of the Second Boer War. We can also tell from the engraving of“OTTAWA” that it was owned by a Canadian soldier. Probably an officer, fighting for the British Empire, as many Canadians did. This war was an important event in Canadian military history as it was the first time that Canada’s troops were deployed overseas. The date for which this flask is engraved“30-10-99” is also significant as this was the day in 1899 on which the first contingent of Canadian soldiers departed to join the conflict from Quebec City. On board the SS Sardinian, a converted cattle ship. The contingent consisted of 41 officers. 1010 men and seven horses and finally arrived in Cape Town almost a month later.
