The rattle is made of a sterling silver cow bell like piece attached to a teething ring made of Mother of Pearl or MOP. The interesting part is that the cow bell. Which rattles when shaken, is decorated with raised designs that shows the time of birth, date and weight of the baby. The raised design shows a clock with the time 5:06 PM, a scroll or showing the date as Born on 9-3-49, and the image of a scale with a baby on top showing a weight of 6 pounds 9 ounces. Very uncommon and interesting. The cow bell, which has a nice rattling sound when shaken, is attached to the teething ring with a belt with a buckle, just a great touch if interesting details. The piece is marked with a shield surrounded with the letters S& B and the word Sterling on the belt attaching the bell to the ring. The back of the bell has the initials B.J.R. presumably representing the baby's name. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1949. Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in the Wilmington Delaware area. Size: Rattle measures ~2 7/8" long with the ring being ~1 5/8" in diameter. The piece weighs about 0.4 of an ounce. Maker: Unknown. Marks: The piece is marked with a shield surrounded with the letters S& B and the word Sterling on the belt attaching the bell to the ring. Additionally. The back has the initials B.J.R. Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. The Both the bell and the teething ring have teeth marks. But no breaks. Up for auction is this wonderful piece. It features a stork bird and with a clock and says Birth Record and is engraved 1-10-55 for the date. Weight was 8 lb 5 oz and for the name is the initials CDN. The strap is stamped Sterling and is attached to a Lucite I believe maybe mother of pearl ring that is for teething, and the dangly bell shaped piece is a rattle. Vintage sterling silver baby rattle bell mop? teething ring id'd time name 1935
There are a lot of nice details on this vintage sterling baby item. The rattle/bell section measures 1& 1/8" wide at the widest part and is 1" long not counting the suspension hardware at the top. The front has a clock face design and reads 1:00- presumably the time the child was born. Beneath that is a banner that contains the baby's birthweight of 6 lb. 12 oz. The reverse side has the child's name. And"born Nov. 4, 1935. The link that fastens the bell to the teething ring is designed to look like a belt with a nice buckle detail on it, The word STERLING appears in raised letters on this link, and after that a hallmark that looks like a W. The link is slightly bent. The teething ring section looks like it's made from mother of pearl, but I'm not sure if it's mop or another material made to look that ... moreway. The ring diameter measures 1& 3/4" Overall condition is good, but there appears to be some flattening of the bell/rattle and belt-like link, as well as surface scratches on the bell and ring. I have lightly polished the silver parts, but did not attempt to clean the ring with anything other than water since I'm not sure what it's made of and didn't want to damage it. Wonderful late 1800s early 1900s baby teething ring rattle with a Koala Bear. It still rattles as well! Not sure of the composition of the ring but after some research. Think it is probably Ivory/Bone. Bakelite would have discolored after this long a time and darkened. This is only a guess and as I am not an expert I cannot guarantee the material. There are baby teeth marks on the ring as well. No cracks in very good condition. Vintage Lunt Sterling Silver Teddy Bear Baby Rattle Teething Ring
Vintage Lunt sterling baby rattle. With teething ring. Both sides of the rattle have a teddy bear on them, it makes a nice tinkling sound when moved. The rattle is about two inches wide. I believe the teething ring is some kind of hard plastic, but I'm guessing. The clasp attaching the two together is marked Lunt, Sterling on one side, the other side has a flower and leaves engraved on it. The sterling rattle has scratches and a couple of minor dents, it is tarnished, but overall it's in nice condition for its age. It's very hard to get good pictures of shining items with my camera, the pictures look like the whole piece is dented, but it's reflections, I tried to take pics at different angles so the new owner will have a good idea of the items condition.

Phenomenal antiqe sterling silver baby bell by webster. On a polished mother of pearl ring. There are many designs of this bells front, and this one I don't see as often. You can compare on ebay alone. This is engraved to a baby born 1.5.39 with the initials JMD. There is no damage to the shell, and no dents or damage to the bell. Just tarnish. Nice old Gorham baby rattle and ring. The strap is marked Gorham Sterling 1805. It is a sealed bell with a fair bit of wear but nothing major. Just been loved and used.
