UNUSUAL OLD STERLING SILVER MINIATURE INKWELL DIP PEN REST DESKTOP WRITING 1909
This is for a very unusual little hand made inkwell from 1909. It looks to have been designed to sit on a desk in the most minimalist way. There is a little pot in the centre that would hold the ink and a little raised pen-rest at the back to hold your dip pen. It has a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks on the front for Birmingham 1909 along with a makers mark R.P. It is in absolute excellent condition with no damage to it anywhere and it measures 42mm x 29mm and stands 23mm tall. I have shown a picture with a dip pen resting on the top, just to give an idea of what it looks like, but obviously the pen is not included in the sale, the auction is for the inkwell only. Victorian Sterling Silver Fob Hung Ink Dip Pen& Pencil by Sampson Mordan& Co of London circa 1880 This Antique Telescopic Retractable Dip Pen& Pencil measures approximately 2 1/2 inches or 64 mm in length from the hanging ring to the end of the body when the pen and pencil are fully retracted and it is just over 3/8 of an inch or 10 mm across the widest part of its lower body from side to side. The pen side is 4 1/2 inches or 11 5 mm in total length from the hanging ring to the end of the nib holder on the dip pen when the body and pen are fully extended and the pencil side is just over 4 1/ 8 inches or 106 mm in length to the end of the pencil when it' s fully extended. The ink dip pen and pencil is made from a sterling silver telescopic body that has a raised relief or engine turn decorated upper body for grip. For sale is a really attractive antique dip pen in sterling silver with a matching button hook. The pen has a repeating scroll design with a blank space for the owner's initials. Pen is marked Sterling near the nib which is gold and marked- H.M.S. Smith& Co. New York. The button hook has matching decoration and is also marked Sterling. These two pieces come with the bottom portion of their box. The top broke off at the hinges and is long gone. Offered here is a lovely sterling silver and cut crystal ink well and a matching sterling silver repousse dip pen. The ink well was made by fine American silver maker. Whiting. The dip pen was retailed at A. Stowell. Both the ink well and the dip pen are very ornate and beautifully designed. The ink well is in overall very good condition. There is only one very shallow ding on the edge of the cap. There are no pin holes. There is a repair at the hinge. But the lid opens and closes perfectly. There are no chips, cracks or holes on the crystal portion. There is only one fleabite on one of the corners, but the crystal is in excellent, near perfect condition. The ink well measures 2 3/8" tall, and the base is 2 3/8" by 2 3/8" The ink well is marked"Sterling 1818 PAT'D" with the Whiting hallmark. The dip pen has a ... moresimilar design to the inkwell. REPOUSSE Sterling Silver DESK INK WELL & DIP PEN SET Victorian NOUVEAU ANTIQUE
Up for a no reserve auction. Is a gorgeous antique sterling silver desk set including a repousse inkwell and dip pen. The ink well measures 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" tall. The lid is unmarked. But appears to be sterling. The lid is in overall good condition with no dings, splits or holes. The lid doesn't close all the way. The crystal portion is also in overall good condition with no cracks or holes. There is one minor chip on one side of the inkwell. It is not very noticeable. The sterling silver dip pen measures 7 1/2" long. It is clearly marked"Sterling" It has no holes or splits. There are a couple of very small dings where the nib meets the pen.
