It measures about 4 5/8" long. The glass features a dragon on the handle with a ring and jump-ring in its mouth. The end of the glass has a jump ring as well, presumably to wear on a chain. The glass is removeable from the handle. The handle is marked with sterling hallmarks for London, England, I believe the date year is 1978. This is a solid piece, not at all flimsy, it weighs 1.15 troy ounces or 36 grams. This magnigying glass is in very good condition. Antique Sterling Silver Magnifying Glass, Loupe - w/ Hole for Chain
Nice antique Sterling Silver handled magnifying glass. Marked sterling. Couldn't find any other marks. Really dark tarnish which makes it look like black silver, which shows the age. There is a hole on the end of the handle that I'm assuming was for a chain to hold it, or where it around your neck. The magnifyer is made of brass, and is in good condition except for a few small spots. It's pretty large inside, see the comparison to my hand, and the handle is hollow. This is an absolutely fabulous and very rare Antique Georgian Circa 1790 Silver and Tortoise-shell Magnifying Glass. The workmanship that's gone into this Georgian silver& tortoise-shell magnifying glass is absolutely superb. And the colour and patina over the years, has just added to this exquisite little item. Considering this is 223 years of age, it's in fabulous original condition. with no nasty scratches to the concave glass. The sides are also in exceptionally good original condition, with no cracks or splits, there are some tiny surface scratches only to be expected, commensurate with it's 223 years of age. I've owned this Antique Georgian Magnifying glass for quite a while. it's a nice size to keep in your pocket for when you're viewing antiques. and it always gets noticed. The only mainenance this beautiful ... morelittle item requires is every once in a while just feeding the sides with a very tiny amount of olive oil. stops it drying out and brings out the colour and patina. Antique Sterling Silver Magnifying Glass Ginko leafs, art nouveau Design? marked
I am offering a stunning antique STERLING SILVER MAGNIFYING GLASS. This magnifying glass is beautifully decorated with lots of swirling leaves and cherries on each side of the handle. See Photos) The magnifying glass is in very clean condition. No chips, just a small dent on the bottom. It is marked STERLING in addition to a number of other marks that I cannot identify. The hallmarkbelow the magnifying glass on the top of the handle seem to reads: a lion, anchor, the letter G, with the word STERLING after it. See Photo) but I am nut realy sure. Diameter of the magnifying glass itself is approx 3 3/4 inches, the length of the of the whole magnifying glass is approx 14 1/2 inches, the thickness of the sterling silver rim holding the magnifying is ¾ inches. This is a super antique magnifying glass with a lovely carved handle and a sterling silver collar and knob both hallmarked for Sheffield 1894 with the silversmiths mark for Robert Fead Mosely. Sterling Silver Handle Magnifying Glass Silver Mark 1808 Art Nouveau Flowers
This beautiful handheld magnifying glass has a sterling silver handle and looks to be Art Nouveau in style. The handle has a floral design. The handle says 1808(this is the pattern number) next to a silver mark that looks like an S inside a shield or coat of arms. This is the mark for Simon Bros of Philadelphia. Many thanks to nobilityhouse for help with the identification. The glass is 6 1/2 inches long. The only imperfection I found is an indent in the metal ring around the glass. The metal around the glass different, it is not silver and says Japan on it. I have lightly polished the handle. The photos below are of the handle before it was polished. Solid sterling silver large 30X magnifying loupe / eye glass with tassle
A lovely large ornate. Pierced work, solid silver magnifying loupe/ eye glass which I think is around 30X magnification but not totally sure on that. The overall length is approx. 5.5cm plus the end ring and approx. 3.5cm wide at the widest point and with a little tassle on the end. A nice pocket sized item. It is hallmarked on the end ring with very tiny hallmarks which I think read"CME" 925" and an anchor for the Birmingham assay office. I have also conducted an acid test on the main part of the loupe and it is definitely of a high grade of solid silver. The magnifying section in the middle is made out of plastic but I think the lens is probably glass. This pivots and has a nice snug fit to the silver caseing. The total weight of the loupe is approx. 33.4 grams so a substanial weight and not at all flimsy. Fully hallmarked for London 1914. This is a rare distance measure/ map reader in it's original fitted leather case and made by Asprey& Co. in London 1914. The measure has a silver case with a roller wheel to the bottom and two distance dials- one to calculate the distance from centimetres into kilometres and the other to calculate nautical miles- 1 inch to one mile. The distance calculator works by running the wheel over a map/an atlas and thereby calculating the distance between two points on a map. The top of the case has a magnifying glass. The instrument has suspension rings both to the top and to the side. The instrument is 1-3/8 inches/ 35 mm wide and 3-3/4 ... moreinches/ 96 mm tall(not including the suspension rings) It weighs 89 grams. The silver has clear hallmarks- lion passant. London mark, letter t for 1914 and maker's mark A&CoLtd for Asprey& Co. The piece is also stamped'Asprey' The instrument is in excellent condition and is in fully working order. This is a rare novelty silver map distance measure. NOTE: Given that this piece dates from 1914 and the start of the First World War.
