This one was made by Crisford& Norris in Birmingham. But the date mark isn't readable. This is a repousse styled handle with a cap to it. The steel shank starts with a ball and flange then has ENGLISH MAKE STEEL stamped into it before tapering down at the hook. The only damage is a very small pi n prick on one side. The long steel shank starts with a ball and flange decoration then has Steel stamped into it before tapering down to the hook. It is approx. 10 1/2" in length. It is long enough and heavy enough to have been used as a hammer and this one looks like it might have been used that way. The large handle has damage on both sides. I believe this to be a GORHAM sterling silver button hook. By looking at the anchor mark I think this was made in the early 1900's. I back this up with the polished steel shank which is a number 8 which is identified on page 25 of Ian Wood's GORHAM book. On the side it has B2928 and the initials on the front are C A W with an arrow going thru. It is approx. 6 1/2" in length. It has some wear but still is a nicely made Gorham product. GORHAM Antique Vintage Silver Handle Button Hook w/Hall Marks on the Shank 1922!
OK this has been a tough one for me. It is Gorham with what I believe to be a bird like 1922 and it has a number 6 shank with hall marks on the shank. I also found a 23 and it does have initials in the escutcheon on the front. The marks on the handle are located just above the shank. With the marks on the shank closest to the handle. I first thought it had rub holes, but after closer looks it is the decorative floral pattern. It is approx. 6 1/2" in length. It has some wear to it but it is somewhat clean.
