Solid Silver & Enamel Lassie Dog Double Sovereign Coin Holder 1913 Chester
On offer is a splendid solid silver double sovereign coin holder. The coin holder has charming enamel image of a golden colored dog on the front. To open the coin holder you simply press down on the button at the top of the case. The fitment has been removed or lost so it needs to be opened by pushing a fine object down inside the fitment(I used a hair grip) This can be fixed with the right pair of hands, part and expertise. The holder has two different sized coin holders. The inside of the case is hallmarked with three keyholes. A lion and italic letter'N' There is also the maker's mark CS* FS which stands for Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders& James Francis Hollings Frank Shepherd. I will ship worldwide. Victorian Solid Silver Double Sovereign Case" The case is fully English hallmarked for Birmingham 1895 and the makers mark is"M.B" for Mitchell Bosley& Co of Bath Street. Birmingham. The sovereign case has two spring loaded sections inside one for sovereigns and the other for half sovereigns. The case is engraved all over with a floral pattern and it has a vacant cartouche on the lid. It is in fair condition there are several dents to the case commensurate with its age and use and the spring loaded sections work well. It measures 50mm x 28mm and it weighs 30.2 grams. For sale we have this lovely antique 1912 solid hallmarked silver double sovereign case. The case was made to carry full gold sovereigns. The silver is hallmarked for English sterling 925 silver. Was assayed in Birmingham with the date letter for 1912 and the makers mark for Aaron Lufkin Dennison. The piece measures 5 1/2cm/2 1/4" by 3cm/1 1/4" and weighs 39.9g approx. The piece is in very good condition for its age with some miner signs of age but nothing that spoils the look or use of the piece. There is an additional compartment on the inside lid for your stamps. This is quite unusual and rare as it for 2 full sized sovereigns. Obviously was owned by a rich English gentleman. The inside is gilded. Could be worn on an antique solid silver pocket watch chain but equally stunning as a large pendant. Could also be used to keep your gold sovereigns in. Excellent GeorgeV Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Full And Half Sovereign Case Probably Made By W J Holmes Description- Splendid good gauge solid silver double sovereign case of oblong form with hinged lid. Push button clasp, suspension loop and solid silver chain link, the case has a wonderful hammered finish and with a central circular catouche with an engraved monogram, the case has two spring loaded sovereign compartments, one for holding a full sovereign and the other holds a half sovereign. The case is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay. The lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the date letter"n" for the year 1912 and the makers mark, both sovereign compartments and chain are also hallmarked. Condition- The sovereign case is in excellent condition. There are no dents, dinks, dints, splits, ... moreholes or repairs,there is no wear or rubbing to the hammered decoration, the hinge and clasp are in perfect working order clicking the case shut tightly and both sovereign compartments are in excellent order with nice strong springs.
