The fittings to the inside are also silver and impressed with silver marks, unfortunately the silver marks to the outside are a bit rubbed smooth. For 103 years old i find it amazing that there is not one ding or mark to this piece. A heavy gauge Silver weighting in at 113.4 grams. Stunning engine turned case with a beautiful central cartouch adorned with flowers and scroll work. Engraved with initials S M in lovely scroll script. Complete with the chain and ring. Which is also hallmarked with the Lion Passant. Internally the Purse is lined with a gorgeous water marked Navy Silk. Having four compartments. Antique Solid Silver Purse- Birmingham 1905 This is a very nice early Edwardian Solid Silver Purse hallmarked for Birmingham with the letter"f" which dates it to 1905. A makers mark is present but. Unfortunately, it is too"rubbed" to decipher accurately. A nice attractive item with hinged lid and push button clasp. Which closes tightly, it is patterned on both sides and, on one side, has a circular"cartouche" with monogram. It has a linked carrying chain on which we can find no hallmarks and so assume that the chain in not silver. Inside it has a blue lining with 3 pockets. In good. Original condition, the purse has small blemishes, scratches and the odd very small dent but these are no more than would be expected in a silver item of this age. The interior lining has marks and stains and 4 splits to the stitching ... moreof the pockets commensurate with age and use. Up for Auction is this Lovely Edwardian Solid Silver Ladies Purse with engine turned decoration. It has a lovely Oval shape and is very tactile, this lovely purse was assayed in Birmingham in 1919 and the maker is C- Co as you can see the makers mark is a little hard to make out, this also still retains its hallmarked solid silver chain, the inside is missing its interior and it does have many dings and bruising to both sides, the clasp still closes with a lovely sounding snap and the hinge is in good condition, there is a gap when closed, it measures 8.5 cm wide 7.5 cm high not including the chain. Up for auction this lovely little Hallmarked Solid Silver Coin Purse or Bag in Silver mesh with a hinged clasp to the top. Dating from around 1920. This import marks and a 925 silver standard mark. Along with makers marks(imported by) Walker and Hall and the Birmingham Assay mark. It also has a date letter however this in slightly rubbed and we cannot make this out, but we beleive the item to be around 1910- 1920. Excellent condition. Just one link missing between the 2nd and 3rd bead which is normal and easily repaired. Measurements. 9cm to the bottom bead from the opening and 5cm in width. And weight of 14.6 grams. It has a linked carrying chain(fitted at diagonal corners) on which we can find no hallmarks and so assume that the chain in not silver. Inside it has a brown leather lining with 3 pockets. In good. Original condition, the purse has small blemishes, numerous light scratches and several small dents commensurate with age and use. Here we have the most lovely antique. Solid silver mesh beggars coin purse. It comes complete with a small chain and ring to attach to a ladies chatelaine belt. It has a twist open top that flicks back on a hinge to allow the neck of the purse to be expanded. It is in absolutely perfect condition with the mesh all being intact and attached to the neck.
