And the date is worn, so I cannot make it out.However; the Company was Levi and Salaman Birmingham, England that used that mark from 1890-1910, until Phineas Levi's demise. P. STERLING. PALMER& PECKHAM of North Attleboro, Massachusetts was in business in 1896. Out of business before 1904. The entire handle and hook weigh 24.7 grams. Only the handle is Sterling Silver as marked. The handle has a lovely crisp pattern and in excellent pre-owned condition. Light signs of use. The hook is silver colored metal in very noticeable used condition. There is some corrosion on the hook. And two circular corrosive nicks down to the base metal. Pictured is a lovely sterling handled Button Hook. The handle on this hook has a floral motif done in a repousse' Or high relief style. It is fully hallmarked, showing it was produced in Birmingham by William Devenport in 1901. W. Devonport was a well known silversmith in his day and was known for his quality pieces. This ... morehook is a good example of his work. There are no dent's or scratches to be seen. The only fault to be found is some rust to the bend of the steel hook. Common in pieces like this and just shows it was actually used. please see photo's) Measurements: 16.5cm. Like everything I'm selling. This was in my grandparents estate. Everything came to America by way of France in 1900. My grandfather was a huge Ocean Line and Ship's collector, while my grandmother collected many sewing pieces, but mainly these were already in the family. Beautiful genuine Antique Edwardian/GeorgeV silver handled steel button hook stamped Sterling- possibly American 22.5cm- 8.75" Gross weight 39grams in very good antique condition with minor wear and denting consistent with normal use.
