With good clear hallmarks, bit it has been used, and there are little dinks, tiny dents around the base, and the steel base has surface rusting. It measures 6.5cm(2.5 inches) in diameter at the base. A hinged lid is fastened to the glass with a twist screw fastener. Fully hallmarked to the cover for Thomas Dexter London 1837. The Inside of the lid is lined with leather and then a further rectangle of silver which is also stamped. The hinge is in perfect condition as is the fastener which closes tightly. The glass is cut to the base with a starburst motif and there are no chips or marks. Which dates from 1870 and was made by the highly regarded London Silversmith Henry Holland( of Holland. Aldwinckle& Slater) This must have been commissioned by someone of great status& wealth and the tray is engraved with initials beneath a crown(please see third photograph) This beautiful piece has a globular cut glass receiver mounted with a beautiful Sterling Silver Coronet finial; this sits on a Sterling Silver octafoil circular base with a sculpted ball decorated and pierced edge. Which alone weighs 159.8 grams. The base has a diameter of approx' 16 centimetres and the complete Inkstand is approx' 10 centimetres high. As you would expect ... morewith fine English Silver of this quality it is fully hallmarked three times(please see photograph) on: The silver collar around the neck of the receiver; on the silver insert on the bottom of the cut glass receiver. Which fits into the base; and on the base of the tray itself. RARE This is a really super ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver mounted ink well in a traditional capstan style which was made in London. England in 1913 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Robert Pringle& Sons at their Clerkenwell Road workshops. The base is circular and it tapers upwards. The lid is hinged and when opened it reveals the well which has a well fitting clear glass liner. It has a filled base. It measures 3 3/8" in diameter by 1 5/8" high. Whilst loaded. The ensemble weighs 159.0 grams- well over 5 troy oz. It is NOT engraved. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STERLING SOLID SILVER DOUBLE INKWELL/ INKSTAND H/M 1898- Welcome to my Auction. For a Victorian sterling solid silver double inkwell& stand. Clearly Hallmarked to the stand- Sheffield 1898. Clearly Hallmarked to both inkwells- Sheffield 1894. Silversmith's makers mark to all pieces- H.A" for Henry Atkin. The ink bottles belong to the stand even though they differ in date. The stand is rectangular in shape with a gadrooned. Shell& foliate decorated rim. With a double recess for the inkwells to sit. Sitting on four bun supports. The hobnail cut glass inkwells have plain silver caps with both hinges working well. There is a pin head size ding to the top of one cap. There are some nibbles to the patterned glass& a very tiny chip to one corner. These are minor& not obvious. In lovely condition with just ... morethe gentle surface marks mentioned& light scratches as would be expected. Weighs- The stand alone- 219 grams. Ink bottle 1- 198 grams. Ink bottle 2- 194 grams. VINTAGE Solid Silver INK WELL INKWELL 1923 Hallmarked London STERLING NR SUPER- London- 6+ troy oz. Clear Glass Liner This is a really super VINTAGE solid sterling silver mounted ink well in a traditional capstan style that was made in London. England in 1923. The base is circular and it tapers upwards. The lid is hinged and when opened it reveals a removable clear glass well. It has a filled base. It measures 3 1/2" in diameter by 1 7/8" high. Whilst loaded. The inkwell weighs 186.9 grams- over 6 troy oz. It is NOT engraved. It is in pretty good condition for its age with just a few dings and dents but some distortion and only the usual surface scratching than you'd expect for its age and the lid has NO spring- SUPER. The base is hallmarked with EH&Co. Lion passant(sterling silver assay mark) leopard head, k and the lid ... morewith lion passant, k showing that it was hallmarked in London in 1923. Edwardian, antique, solid silver and cut glass, art nouveau inkwell; with typical, sinuous, art nouveau design encasing the well, which has a flip-top lid and hobnail cut base and stands on three splayed legs to paw feet. There is a very small section of the piercing missing from around the inkwell(shown in a photograph) and a couple of barely noticeable. Minute fleabites to the glass, not unsightly and all commensurate with age and use; other than this and the usual fine surface scratching, it is in good condition for 107 years old and is without a monogram or crest. It measures approx. 4.5 cm high. 5.5 cm across the shoulder of the glass inkwell, with the flip-top lid 3.4 cm x 3.1 cm, 6 cm across the base of the silver stand and has 20.3 grams of weighable silver. It is fully ... morehallmarked to the base of the stand and has the lion passant. Date letter and maker’s mark to the collar of the lid. The assay office is Birmingham. ANTIQUE Solid Silver Mounted HUGE INKWELL INK WELL 1905 Hallmarked Sterling NR ASPREY WATCH INSIDE LID- SUPERB- 48 troy oz! This is a stunning ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN solid sterling silver mounted HUGE glass inkwell that was made in London. England in 1905 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Samuel Smith& Sons Limited at their Piccadilly workshops and retailed by ASPREY& COMPANY. The inkwell is 3 7/8" square. Stands 4 1/2" high with a solid sterling silver rim and lid. The ensemble weighs 1483.3 grams- almost 47 3/4 troy oz. It has an Asprey& Company pocket watch inside the lid and is not engraved. The glass is in superb condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The silver is in very good condition with less than the usual surface scratching and few dings and NO dents- all parts are clearly original- SUPERB- but it ... moredoes need a better clean than I have had time to give it. The watch lacks a winder. It is hallmarked with SS, anchor, lion passant(sterling silver assay mark) f showing that it was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1905.
