Although the way it's made it would probably be just as good as a bookmark, if not better. the silveris criss crossed on the clip to give it that bouncebackability money clips have. it has a big heart on the front which is about an inch and a half wide. it reads"1st national variety Club convention golf tournament April 20,1940 Frank Clark" is Stcamped Sterling at the top of the clip which i pictured in the last picture. A very unusual antique sterling silver novelty bookmark in the form of a sword. The hilt shape finial inset with a jasper agate. Fully hallmarked with the anchor for the assay town of Birmingham, struck horizontally for small pre-1900 work, the lion passant for the sterling standard guarantee, and the gothic style date letter'O' for the year 1888. Maker's mark: J.F for the famous silversmith James Fenton who later manufactured some wonderful art nouveau work both in silver and jewellery. A very unusual sterling silver and mother of pearl bookmark. It is hallmarked for Sheffield 1910 with the makers marks being Walker and Hall. It has been beautifully designed in the form of a trowel with mother of pearl handle. Most interesting the handle bears an inscription which reads‘ CEMENTS FRIENDSHIP’ there are also the letters‘IIC’ I do not know what this refers to. It is in perfect condition with the silver being free from dings splits distortions and repairs and the mother of pearl being free from chips cracks and repairs.
