It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1907 with makers mark for the well regarded A&J Zimmerman. 5.3" wide and 4.2" high. It weighs 113.9g. Very good antique condition with just a few small and minor dinks. A very decorative and highly sought after Edwardian piece. 107 years old. You are viewing an exquisite antique French solid sterling silver(950 pure) with nautical and postal service associations. It is signed on the reverse by the medal designer. Pagnier, and comes with it's own leather covered case. The rim of the medal is stamped"argent" and is hallmarked. The obverse and reverse are full of maritime and transportation symbolism including a locomotive, anchors, knots and a propeller. The obverse has a lovely central shield depicting a steamship on a stormy sea. The legend on the reverse ribbon translates as: Postal Services of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean" The medal is approximately 67 millimeters in diameter and weighs approximately 154 grams. The case appears to be original to the medal and has red velvet and silk lining.
