Jr. born in 1923, was one of the leading modern furniture designers of the second-half of the 20th century. His uniquely American designs were forward-thinking and distinctive. Yet unpretentious and affordable. Baughman designed for a number of furniture companies starting in the mid-1940s until his death. He also lectured broadly on the state of modern design, extolling the positive benefits of good design on the lives of human beings, and helping to define and shape the discussion for years to come In addition to the"High Styles" show at the Whitney Museum of Art in New York. Baughman's furniture has been exhibited in museums and shows throughout the United States, including the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem. There are no tags on it but we've sold other Thayer Coggin sofas and this one definitely has the look of one. It has very cool psychedelic fabric that I think actually looks better in person than in the photos we have posted. The colors really pop. Each of the arms is raised up on(5) square chrome cubes that still have a lot of shine to them. The(4) legs are wood wrapped with chrome. It's an amazing piece and a very rare find especially in this condition. It measures 63" long x 26" tall at the top of the backrest and 16" tall at the seat level. A simply wonderful retro example of Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin with original Jack Lenor Larsen fabric. The frames are tight and they are very large and comfortable. There is some fading to the fabric on the arms and a couple of inconspicuous 1" tears to the fabric of each chair. Please see pictures. These are part of my personal collection which I purchased a few years ago from a mid-century modern store out of Dallas. I was going to have them recovered but I am having to downsize. Listed is an excellent vintage pair of black tufted naugahyde arm chairs on casters. They are very comfortable and versatile. The chairs are in good vintage condition with minimal signs of age appropriate wear. There are three small nicks in the upholstery on one of the chairs all of which are pictured. There is some minor corrosion on the bottom support bars of the seats that does not affect the appearance. The casters all roll well and have some minor scuffing that should be expected. Pair Vintage 1970s Milo Baughman Style Cube Club Chairs. G reat looking chairs. In pretty rough shape and will need a complete rehab. Worth the trouble, these are really cool frames. I do not know the maker, the labels have been removed. In the style of Milo Baughman, probably dating from the 1970s. They measure 23 1/2" tall(to top of frame not including pillow) x 33" wide x 34" deep. Poor Condition. Signs of water damage-have water stains and a faint mildewy smell. These were stored in a basement and not well cared for. Definitely need re-upholstery. One has a hole cut in the side under the pillow. One wooden plinth is water damaged and in poor condition, and will need repair or replacement. It has several nails in it, and has warping& separation of the wood, as well as veneer loss. For Sale Matched Pair Mid Century Thayer Coggin Club Chairs- Attrib. to Milo Baughman I have only seen one similar pair of chairs by Thayer Coggin. These appear to be fairly uncommon There is no way to confirm that these are by Milo Baughman. But he did design for Thayer Coggin for quite some time and designed many of their chairs, including a slew of similar club chairs I would describe the color as a deep purple. Not a vulgar color. Though Overall I would say these are in very good condition. No significant issues whatsoever. I will detail what minor issues I can see NOTE. I just got these back from the furniture cleaners and the chair on the LEFT is still a little moist(you can see the spots on the front) KNOWN ISSUES- Some pilling of the wool upholstery- Some dings on the bottom edge of the Walnut frame(from a vacuum. This matched pair of Milo Baughman lounge chairs were produced by Thayer Coggin and designed around 1965. Overall the chairs are in very good condition. And in my opinion would work well as-is in most interiors. The upholstery is in good clean condition with only what appears to be slight sun fading on the side. The chrome-plated steel frames are in decent shape with wear as to be expected for these 50 year old beauties. Most visible chrome is perfect, and most areas that show wear are in places that were not polished regularly leaving slight surface damage. That being said, these areas clean up well with polish. The only areas of chrome loss are pictured and exist on one rear leg of both chairs. The pictures tell the story well. DESCRIPTION: Offered is a vintage pair of chrome finish etagere(s) or bookcases in a mid century modernist. Hollywood Regency, Milo Baughman style. These geometric shelving units can be positioned two ways to capture different facing architectural patterns. They are not reversible(as shown in one of the photos, the back of each etagere has visible screws) There are(5) long shelves and(2) short shelves for each unit. The top of each shelf does not support glass and was designed to be open. Each unit has one of the long shelves on the bottom shelf. All glass is original with polished edges with the exception of one smaller glass shelf(it is slightly thinner and does not have polished edges) The frames hollow metal tubing(possibly polished aluminum) is 1.25" tall x 1.25" depth. I'd estimate the weight of each shelf(without glass) ... moreat 35-40 lbs. These came from the estate of the late Jennings Osborne. Prominent philanthropist of Little Rock, Arkansas, who purchased them both new. Both need to be reupholstered and the bases need filled in cracks or relaminated. The frames are very solid and sturdy. They are sold in AS IS condition. Pair of matching modern mid-century low coffee tables. Manufactured by Thayer Coggin.designer Milo Baughman. White laminate tops with rosewood base and legs. They measure 30" by 30" each and stand a little less than 11" tall. I have not done a thing to clean them yet. The corner of one top has a significant chip in the laminate. There are a few other tiny nicks in the laminate. The side edges of the top could use painting.there are a few cracks that need to be filled. The base and legs could use cleaning and oiled. Here we have a pair of Thayer Coggin lounge chairs. Each measures 27" tall. 30" wide(outside of arm to outside of arm) and 30" front to back. The seat height is 17" and the seat is 18" wide and 21" deep. The chairs swivel and rock on round low profile walnut bases. Both chairs are in all original sturdy condition, however the upholstery will need to be replaced.
