This auction is for one rare 1978 Curtis Jere geometric shapes wall sculpture. We are getting ready to move. So we are scaling back some of our art pieces. This piece is signed"C. Jere 1978" in black paint on one of the chrome shapes. There is also a gold foil label on the back of the piece that reads"FINE SCULPTURES BY C. JERE ARTISAN HOUSE, INC. LOS ANGELES CALIF. SEE PICTURE) Cosmetically, the chrome and brass shapes have scratches and spots of surface rust(see pictures) It needs to be cleaned. The surface rust and scratches may be removable with a proper cleaning. We were too afraid we would do something wrong and ruin the piece, so we never tried to clean or polish it. Curtis Jere Cubist Mid Century Modern Mix Metal Wall Hanging Sculpture Raindrops
Up for auction is a large approx. 52" x 32" Original Curtis Jere Signed Metal and Brass Cubist Wall Hanging Sculpture. Jere mixed the metal and brass cubes giving it a shimmering effect when the lighting is just so. Curtis Jere was a well known Modernist Artist and continued producing his pieces beyond the Mid century period. Just about up to the day he died in 2008. This one was created in 1998 toward the end of his career. Piece protrudes approx 5" out from wall. Iron braces welded at back with several loops for hanging. Condition is good with the only issue of note being one weld mark where one of the cubes apparently fell off during moving(see last two photos for location and close up) If you are, or know someone that is a welder/sculpter it wouldn't take much to duplicate the missing cube and replace it if your chose ... moreto. Huge Metal Curtis C. JERE WAll sculpture Abstract Mid Century Modern Brutalist
Interesting C.Jere metal wall sculpture made of undulating brass colored metal rods with a rough textured metal coating on the outside edges. Composed of four separate sections bolted together to form a pair. This allows for multiple arrangements on your wall. The play of light from the dimensional sculpture is very interesting and could be played up with more directed spotlighting. As pictured on the wall the arrangement measures about 60" wide by 42" tall. It protrudes from the wall 14" at its widest point. The two sections when laid on the floor measure about(difficult to measure) 42" by 24-26" The arrangement shown in pictures may not be the optimal arrangement. I was working with nails I had already placed in my walls to hang a different C. Jere sculpture. So I was making do with the placement that was already ... morethere. Sculpture is in very good vintage condition with no major issues. Welds look good and brass is untarnished with no rusting. There are some light scratches as to be expected. Particularly where the sculptures might have overlapped on the wall. None detract greatly. I could find no signature. Mid Century Modern Curtis Jere Style Metal Wall Sculpture
I originally bought this great mid-century Curtis Jere style metal wall sculpture. Because it reminded me of one my grandma had in her house. I used to lie on her living room couch and try to count the leaves. It's similar to Curtis Jere sculptures, however I have not been able to find a signature on it so I don't know the original year or maker. Regardless of maker, this piece will definitely add a mid-century mod feel to your wall. From a distance. The piece appears black, although I believe there is some sort of metal patina on it as in bright light you can see some green and blue, even some orange, like a heat patina. Maybe from the soldering? I tried to capture that in some of the photos. I'm not sure what metal it's made from, but there is some weight to it. the leaves and branches appear to have been soldered together ... moreand it's a very sturdy piece. There is a tiny bit of rust on the front side(captured in one of the photos) which I believe could be brushed off. I like it. I think it adds character. Otherwise in very good, vintage condition. This is an Absolutely Incredible Wire Sculpture and Functional Art Piece for the Dining Room or even in the Office as a Desk Station The workmanship on this is fabulous and has a really nice clean spot weld throughout There is a total of 216 bent metal wires On each of the area's where rods meet on the bend it has been spot sprayed with flat black giving a nice depth effect I do consider this a Rare Jere Piece On my endless searches I could not find anything Possibly one of kind? The closest in style would be Jere's Crane Lamp Notable flaws I came across- was on one corner of the table- a chrome wire is separated from the weld it still holds as if it is connected(shown in 3rd where I'm holding it away& 4th to last photo on it's own) One of the wire's is slightly bent and could have already been this way while being ... moremade. Up for auction is a rare 1972 signed Curtis Jere chrome lamp. I have only seen one of similar design. It was on 1stDibs and differed from this one as it was fitted to hold a metal lamp shade. There is no sign that this lamp ever had a shade with it. The chrome is in excellent condition. The lamp could probably use a dusting but is in great shape. It has been with one owner since the early 1970's. It is fully functional, both lights work inside but I didn't have a 2nd bulb to put in it. Total height is 34" the base is 10" wide. It is signed"C. This cubed hanging art sculpture chandelier has hardware and dimensions matching Curtis Jere pieces extant that went to production. This chandelier features sculptured and slotted chrome shades. Matching square chrome ceiling canopy and a square loop hook-to-chain support. Unique to this model is a clean brushed aluminum square central shaft. Up for grabs is an Artisan C Jere series wall sculpture called"Celestial Night" It is in good condition. With a little paint loss here and there, but nothing significant. Has a nice space age theme, with a moon, stars, planets, and galaxies. I could not find a signature or date on this piece. But was able to find the name and maker of the sculpture by doing some research. It looks like these were made in the late 80's to the 90's, but the piece is now retired. There are multiple hangers on the back, so you can hang it in whatever orientation you prefer. Last picture was from my research.
