Location: Haslet, United States This is an absolutely outstanding ORANGE Preway freestanding wood burning Eames-era cone fireplace. All of the surfaces of the cone shaped body and the ... morestovepipe are coated in high gloss. Fired on, porcelain enamel. The finish on the fireplace and the pipe is very good condition. There is some chipping on the back of the stovepipe and a chip on the back left of the main body at the bottom(see pics) Preway fireplaces can be use with wood. Gas, gel or electric log sets. The gas log unit in the photos will be included if you want it, it is vintage and we don't know if it works well or meets current codes. We will include a grate for burning wood if you prefer. Preway was one of the top quality makers freestanding fireplaces and they made them heavy duty for wood burning but. They were also designed with a port in the firebox floor to install a gas line through so you can use a gas log. This port also allows the cord of an electric log set pass through. Many people are finding the new gel fuel logs sets to be very attractive and don't require connection to a chimney so, you can save on installation cost but still have a"real" fire. The fireplace is a 39" wide. 30" deep and 98" tall. It is vented with 8" diameter welded seam steel stovepipe. The original orange trim ring is shown at ate top. We can supply a matching orange elbow pipe for installing through a wall or additional straight stove pipe in flat black if needed, contact us for details. The original screen is in great condition and has fresh high temp paint. There is a heat shield in the back of the firebox with a rare second panel and also a shield under the firebox to help protect to protect walls and floor from excessive heat. Vintage Four Piece BRASS& CAST IRON Fireplace Tool Set* This set is in very good vintage condition. The only"imperfections" are those that are commensurate with ordinary use and do not detract from the beauty of the set. When I first saw this tool set. At a recent Estate Sale, I thought that it may possibly be made by the USA Company- Pilgrim. I recently sold(for $400) a set- very similar to this one- which was made by Pilgrim(in the 1950s or 1960s) and was attributable to George Nelson- a well-known designer of that period. This set. In my opinion, is of comparable quality, but it does not carry the manufacturer or designer name. In fact, I can find no identifying marks at all and am unable to find another like it on the web. This set, like the Pilgrim, is made of solid brass and cast iron, and both sets are comprised of the ... moresame four tools, in similar size, length and weight. But, the frame for this set is a good bit smaller than the Pilgrim frame- otherwise their weights would be very close. This set weighs a hefty 15 pounds and the other, close to 27 pounds. I own a cast iron fireplace set myself. My set has these same four pieces(in the same design configuration) and I can state. From personal experience, that these tongs are essential for the real fire-builder in your home. They work beautifully and are just what you need to relocate an entire log inside an active fire. This particular design will grab. And hold, logs with very large diameters(as well as smaller logs. Of course) unlike many tongs on the market today. The brass handles of this set are problem-free. With only the expected patina that comes with time and a few very light scratches. The brass on the frame, particularly on the bottom, has more visible scratches- than do the handles- as well as a small spot of wear to the protective varnish coating. Although we do not see any identification, we are nearly 100 percent certain they were manufactured by Seymour, as they are identical in every detail, down to the"nuts and bolts" to vintage signed"Seymour" pieces. Perhaps they were with a set of andirons or a fireplace grate which WAS signed. Or perhaps they had an identification tag. Our observations are as follows: Set appears to have received light to normal use.Each tool would have had a leather strap or lace attached at the top. The body has a few enamel chips. Mainly on the back. Some of the screws are rusty and could stand to be replaced and the fire screen in the back has some surface rust as well and could be cleaned up. It is also missing it's feet, but it came with one, so there is a template that can be brought to your local welder to have them made as they are made of simple square steel stock with a small steel plate, shouldn't cost more than a $20 bucks each to make depending on your area. Retro Mid Century Modern Orange Preway Freestanding Cone Fireplace malm Vintage
This is an absolutely outstanding ORANGE Preway freestanding wood burning Eames-era cone fireplace. All of the surfaces of the cone shaped body and the stovepipe are coated in high gloss. Fired on, porcelain enamel. The finish on the fireplace and the pipe is very good condition. There is some chipping on the back of the stovepipe and a chip on the back left of the main body at the bottom(see pics) Preway fireplaces can be use with wood. Gas, gel or electric log sets. The gas log unit in the photos will be included if you want it, it is vintage and we don't know if it works well or meets current codes. We will include a grate for burning wood if you prefer. Preway was one of the top quality makers freestanding fireplaces and they made them heavy duty for wood burning but. They were also designed with a port in the firebox floor to install ... morea gas line through so you can use a gas log. This port also allows the cord of an electric log set pass through. Many people are finding the new gel fuel logs sets to be very attractive and don't require connection to a chimney so, you can save on installation cost but still have a"real" fire. The fireplace is a 39" wide. 30" deep and 98" tall. It is vented with 8" diameter welded seam steel stovepipe. The original orange trim ring is shown at ate top. We can supply a matching orange elbow pipe for installing through a wall or additional straight stove pipe in flat black if needed, contact us for details. The original screen is in great condition and has fresh high temp paint. There is a heat shield in the back of the firebox with a rare second panel and also a shield under the firebox to help protect to protect walls and floor from excessive heat.
