These chairs have a great form. Are very comfortable, and expertly constructed. Designed by Hans Wegner in the early 1950's, this is a very early set made by Carl Hansen and Søn in Denmark. Constructed in solid wood, they are in good condition and are very solid. The Scandinavian mid century movement is noted for its meticulous handcrafted woodwork and how this movement managed to incorporate this wood into almost every type of furnishing and do so beautifully. This lamp captures that creed and we see how a large piece of teak was modeled into pure modernist sculpture! Lamp is in superb condition.
