Vintage wooden articulated monkey toy. This was designed by Zoo-Line. Hand-made in Japan, and distributed by Viking in the 1950s. It is closely modeled on the 1951 design classic by Kay Bojesen. This adorable monkey is a great. Whimsical display piece. His hands and feet are curved so that he can hang and swing just like a real monkey. Made of teak and another. Lighter-colored wood(limba? the monkey measures about 10 1/2 inches tall with his arms extended, and 3 1/4 inches wide. Great vintage condition, with(as far as I can tell) no missing parts and no damage. The head. Arms, and legs all move with ease, allowing many different poses. Doll measures 6-5/8" in height and features unusual original paint that is not often seen on KB Lise dolls. Paper Kay Bojesen label on bottom of left foot. Old price sticker partially removed on bottom of right foot. Doll is in Excellent Condition. No broken parts or or chips. Original wire in arms. A few scuff marks on arms and here and there on doll. He was apprenticed to Georg Jensen, the well-known silver designer. However, it was Bojesen's timber toys, which he began designing in 1922 for his son, which were to bring him international acclaim. Bojesen was the first to apply the Danish arts and crafts style to toys. The design of this small wooden doll is timeless. The doll represents the best of classic Danish design through its clean and simple lines. Minimalist decoration and bold colors. Bojesen went on to design other wooden figures, animals, trains, cars, and a farm. This occurred at a time when other toy manufacturers had moved away from wood decades before and were working in tin and developing injection moulding techniques and new plastics. a vintage corkscrew designed by Kaj Bojesen manufactured by the Universal Steel Company the corkscrew has a solid rosewood handle with a coated steel screw the handle is very tactile and well modeled. it is in good vintage condition. The wood has a good deep colour and the metal screw is still firmly attached to the wooden handle. the wood has some age related scuffs and scratches and the coating on the steel has come away in some areas. it is a smart and well designed corkscrew. 11.5 cm high x 10.75 cm wide x 2.5 cm deep an example of the same design but made from bone was sold at Bruun Rasmussen the Danish auction house on 3rd May 2011 for kr 3.800(510 Euros) check out my other listings for more mid century items will ship worldwide

Kay Bojesen- large early wooden train/locomotive set in an unspoiled vintage condition A very early and rare exampel of the danish wood-design-master Kay Bojesen work. Train set that consist of 3 main parts. The 2 loads of the set has removable blocks of naturel beech wood. Everything is made out of solid lacquered beech. NOTE: the middle wheels of the locomotive was missing when I found it. Spareparts for these early pieces are imposible to come by. Kay Bojesen- early nutcracker in beech wood A very early and rare exampel of the danish wood-design-master Kay Bojesen work. Organically shaped nutcracker depicting the danish primeminister Thorvald Stauning(1924-26 and 1929-42) The nutcracker was designed in 1932 and was made for a decade or so. It is made out of solid hand carved beech wood and assembled with one piece of brass. There are some minor wear and tear to that part of the mouth where the nuts have been cracked. Vintage Royal Guardsmen Wooden Soldiers Kay Bojesen
Standing 8 1/4 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide. These Royal Guardsmen were created in 1942 by the famous Danish designer Kay Bojesen. They proudly stand ready to protect king and country or your very own castle home. In red. Blue, gold, white and black, there is a simplicity and elegance to these soldiers that have made them classics to collectors around the world. Kay Bojesen(1888-1957) is highly regarded as one of Denmark's most important designer names even beyond the toy industry. Mr. Bojesen created these guards during the German occupation of Denmark. Adjustable load with 6 hardwood blocks and a red hood that comes off. Everything is made out of solid hardwood- probably oak- even the wheels. It is partially painted. The truck is green and burgundy red. The wooden men that comes off and is loosely fitted are red and blue with skin-colored faces.
