2 HEINEMAN For Namm& Loeser. New York ULTRA RARE MAGAZINE RACK! This is a rare 1954 offering from the New York Department store Namm-Loeser. Namm was born in Posen. Prussia and emigrated to the United States in 1870. He appears in directories as early as 1877 as a retailer in this region. His efforts became one of New York's legendary department stores that competed with the likes of Abraham& Strauss and was eventually bought out by them in 1957. That makes this one of the rarest magazine racks in existence and an emblem of an empire that lasted three quarters of a century providing New Yorkers with wonderful merchandise and dry goods. It was designed by Heineman. An in-house designer commissioned by Namm-Loeser to produce one-off modern wares for their department stores. I am offering Vintage 1950s Black Metal Wire& Mesh Magazine Rack. It is 15 1/2 inches wide. 7 1/2 inches deep, 18 1/2 inches tall. The frame is 1/4 diameter black metal wire/rod. The supporting part of the magazine rack is black metal starburst mesh. There is one spot on the inside and outside, about a 2 1/2 inch circle, that has some light surface rust, it could easily be sanded and touched up with some black paint, but it isn't that noticeable. I will leave that up to the new owner. It is 60 years old, has some wear, but is oh so cool. A perfect accent for your mid-century home or office. Overall however condition is very very good and absolutely charming! This magazine rack stands about 16" tall and 20" wide. it's lightweight and very easy to move from place to place. Spring feet have a springiness and the piece has a kinetic nature. This is a vintage magazine rack cigarette and drink tray. The frame has a goldish hue and there are some age spots throughout mainly at joints but only surface no pitting or bad rust. 24" tall. Looks nice. There is a small hairline fracture but does not run all the way thru or onto top just on the side and it looks like someone sealed but it is virtually un-noticeable. For auction is this rare horse magazine rack by Witco. It is carved of wood. Witco during the 50's made furniture and figures to represent the Tiki objects used by people of the Pacific Islands. The pieces were hand carved therefore not a great quantity was produced. Elvis Presley was a great fan of Tiki furniture. Witco products were used extensively in his"Jungle Room" This horse is in great condition. It shows the cracks. Splits and patina that it took almost 60 years to develop.
