Beautifully visible fiberglass"hairs" which stand out beautifully on the seafoam shell. Looks amazing under any light-natural or indoor. Exhibits signs of typical. But minimal, wear, but in amazing shape for being 60 years old. Given the marking on the bottom as well as the original X-base. This is very likely a Zenith production and possibly a prototype marked"AX" stands for A rmshell X- four leg base) which makes it doubly rare. The only notable flaw we detect is a tiny chip on the left arm underside/back which isn't really noticeable unless you look closely on the left/back. This was a project of mine that I simply do not have the time to complete- no other work has been done to the chair other than material/foam removal. Your bid is for this fantastic Mid Century Modern Fiberglass Arm Chair on a Swivel Propeller Style Base. It is a butterscotch/ochre color with an upholstered seat bottom in a similar tweed pattern color. It measures approximately 30.5" to the top. With a seat height of 17.5" is 25" across the front arms, 21.5" inside and is 22" deep. It is in very good cosmetic and working condition for its age, with only a couple of small blemishes to the shell shown in close-ups. The swivel base is sturdy and the chrome is good except for one small 1/4" rust spot, also shown in a close-up. Not sure who the maker is and I cannot find any definitive marking that would identify the manufacturer. There is an ink stamped number 12899 under a piece of tape on the bottom of the shell, which might help in attribution. It is of very ... moregood quality and rivals anything on the eBay. The medium height was 16 inches and my guess the higher one was 18 inches. On its underside this chair the original red label(see picture) retains its early red and black colors. The delivery date of this shell is stamped 3 01 99. The design of the vinyl upholstered arm shell is by Charles Eames and dates back to the 1960’s. The shell has imbedded. Threads to attach a base. The threads are in the narrow configuration so that you can put a rocker base. H-base, Eiffel Tower base, PCA(pivoting cast aluminum) Office base, or another Eames designed bases. Will also mount on a Herman Miller drafting chair base to use as a kitchen barstool. No base offer in this sale. Condition: Very Good. Intact. No ... moreseam splits. No cracks or chips in fiberglass. Foam fill is very good. Supple and even. Very good black vinyl edging. There is a 1/4" cut in the naugahyde upholstery and one stubborn drop of food or other substance. As I entered the windowless room I nearly fell asleep because I knew how bored I was going to be for the next 2 hours. All of a sudden it struck me. I felt the sense of Christmas overwhelm me. What are those in the corner? Are they what I think they are? No it can't be. As I scurry down the narrow aisle. Stepping on people's feet, anticipation started to peak. Two fiberglass arm shells YES! The arm shells had a removable tan cover on them. not the one that is glued to the shell. I popped off the cover ... moreand noticed a bright lemon-yellow. If you've seen a lot of lemon-yellow. You'll notice that through the many years, the chairs become slightly dull. Because this one was covered, it's BRIGHT and looks BRAND NEW! The back of the shell is painted with that typical Greige color paint by Herman Miller. I made an offer to the building manager and voila! BETTER NEWS! Rare Eames Arm Shell Chair- Grey"Elephant Hide" Fiberglass This is an awesome 1950 Eames Arm Shell Chair in Grey"Elephant-Hide" Fiberglass. This particular fiberglass shell color is the highly collectible and oh-so-versatile color of elephant hide in grey. I believe this chair to be all original with all original parts. The fiberglass shell is in excellent condition with no cracks or issues and has a stunning pattern on the original finish which is still very pristine. Conditional notes: Fiberglass is beautifully fibrous and there are no issues with the color at all- very beautiful nearly mint condition. Appears very lightly used. Very rare for its age. Set 4 Mid Century Modern Swivel FIBERGLASS BUCKET CHAIRS Krueger Shell arm Khaki
A set of 4 fiberglass bucket or armed shell chairs in a khaki gray(classic mid century color) that swivel! Purchased from the estate of a gentleman who worked for Heywood Wakefield for over 35 years heading the Lloyds division in MI. The fiberglass bucket portion of the chair is made by Krueger of Green Bay WI. The base is typical of Wakefield and all are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips to fiberglass. Nice color and good working mechanics of swivel bases. The bases are really nice because they return to original position so look of room is not dishevelled. The seat height is 16" width from outside arm to arm is 15" and top of back is 29" The legs are brushed tinted metal finish and go perfect with this khaki color. Offered here are 3. Matching, Salmon, very fibrous, Red-Orange/ Orange arm shells. They have a great, early Eames look. They are pre-1965. They are signed with embossed double triangles, only, apparently indicating they were among the first shells molded by Summit Plastics after Zenith. They have an early Herman Miller paper patent number label. Originally these great shells were all on H-bases which you can see by looking at the shock mounts. No bases offered in this sale. Very Collectible! Excellent ambiance for your MCM place. All the shock mounts are present-they are starting to deteriorate. Narrow configuration so you can put them on nifty Eames bases like Eiffel Tower, X-Bases, Rockers, H-bases-Black or Bright Zinc, Dowel, Office PCA or others. Rare Burke White Fiberglass Arm Chairs Chrome Bases Eames, Saarinen Style Unique
A beautiful set of burke chairs very rare not the common tulip base but on a beautiful chrome base. They are so comfortable and have a slight rocking action in them. The base is unique chrome no rust or pitting. I put a lot of time on these. They have burke action by vectra group on the bottom. I originally was going to reupholster the entire chairs as can see by bottom photos all green. I realized after scraping the foam after many tedious hours with glue that was baked on these frames for so many years! I didn't realize how long it would of taken to do this but the result was gorgeous. they had a gorgeous shiny white fiberglass frame. I loved them as they were. I washed and cleaned up original upholstery. These chairs are bright white I will take them outside in the light for more pics or can email if Message me.
