This is an Antique Iron Grate. The grate is an estate sale find. So I know little about it. It could have been used for a heating grate or some other type of use. The grate is made of iron and has rust throughout. Photos 1-6 show the front/ top of the grate. And photos 7-11 shows the reverse. The grate measures- 31" long. 13" wide, 3/4" thick. Weighs 17lbs.

Excellent condition cast iron heat vent cover. Should be for the intake on older central heat systems. This is in perfect shape. No cracks or damage. It has been refinished. With a great coat of paint. The center of the face is unpainted and covered iwth a clear coat to prevent rust. The vent works great, the pivot is tight but moves easily. It measures 12-5/8" wide by 11-1/4" tall.

Antique Victorian Era Architectural Floor Wall Heating Grate Vent 11 7/8"x14"
Up for auction is a wonderful Victorian Era floor or wall cast iron vent or grate recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition and measures approximately 11 7/8" x 14" in size. The vent fits into an opening 10x12" the top overlaps& is a total of the measurement in the title- There are four screw holes in each corner. It is made of metal and does attract a magnet. The top side is painted, the bottom retains what appears to be its original finish. Primary color is beige. It appears that this color has been there for a while, but may not be the original paint. There is some losses to the paint on one side and a few minor rust spots. A screw is bent and stuck in one corner so wire is used on another side to keep it all together. This is a very nice Victorian heat register grate. It has an ornate design with a center lever. There are no numbers or names inside. The grate is in"as-found" condition. There are several layers of paint on it(black. Brown, red) and there is some surface rust. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly, and the fins open and close easily. There are absolutely NO breaks or cracks in the casting! The center plate is removal to accommodate a stove pipe. The outside diameter measures about 15 3/4" with the bottom flange fitting into the opening of a pipe 13 1/4" in diameter. It is in good condition without any cracks or breaks. But obviously been painted brown. Needs a cleaning. And it is ready for painting. Antique Bronze Basement Cellar Brass Air Vent Grate British Flag Brass Vintage
For sale is an antique cast bronze air vent from the basement of a very old commercial building. The vents were mounted in a black marble base that ran across the bottom of the store front on top of the side walk. The vent is 6" x 8" and 7/8" thick. It fit into a rectangular opening sawed into the marble base. I believe the vents are bronze but they could be brass or copper. The vent is very heavy for its size and the weight is 7 pounds and 8.5 oz each. Depending on where you live the scrap price alone could be 24.00 to 40.00 each. The plans called for the vents to be closed in with 2 red bricks(see photo's) until matching mable could be cut be and installed in the openings.The architect over the job said the history on the building shows that the black marble and the vents were imported from England when the building was ... morebuilt. And that explains the design of the English flag on the vents.Sorry about what looks like a shadow of a 7 in the photos, That has to do with the camera I used after I had dropped it. Here is an antique floor register or vent. This is a decorative cast iron piece with louvers on the back that open and close when you move the slider at the center. The top of this register is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The back is tapered. With the bottom measuring 6 3/4 inches. I think it will need a 7 1/2 inch opening in the floor. This register has remnants of the original black japanned finish. Where the finish is missing there is light rust. The slider works. Antique Sunburst Arts and Crafts Deco Heat Grate Vent Register Vintage Pair
Vintage heat vent grates. Condition: I once had plans on using these many years ago. So now is the time to get them out into the world and to someone who will put them to good use. They are a working pair with only light paint on them so getting them stripped down will be very easy. I'm not sure what they are made of heavy as cast but looks to be possibly brass, or some mixture of metals that they used way back when. The patent date is 1907 so I would imagine they are from that period, maybe through the teens. Both work, so they can be used again. The dimensions are 13.5' long.9.75' tall. the ductwork hole will need to be 12' x 8.25' The gold one has the original mounting surround which is included in the auction. Pretty cool stuff.
