It is marked Manufactured by The Adams Co. Dubuque. Iowa. Design Patent, August 31, 1887. The insert has been cleaned. The base has nice patina. One"pinwheel" is not complete. See photos. This auction is for a vintage three piece. Round, cast iron, floor register. Embossed on the outside rim: Manufactured by The Adams Company in Dubuque, Iowa on August 31, 1897. The center plate is removal to accommodate a stove pipe. The outside diameter measures about 15 3/4" with the bottom flange fitting into the opening of a pipe 13 1/4" in diameter. It is in good condition without any cracks or breaks. But obviously been painted brown. Needs a cleaning. And it is ready for painting. The stationary outer rim and the movable inner rim which opens and closes, see pictures showing the open and closed positions. The outer rim has the following lettering cast into the surface" Made of Ferro Steel, Design Patented" and the inner rim is cast with ornate vines and leaf pattern. The inner ring has a finger latch to rotate the inner ring to the open or closed position. It is free of any damage, has some light rust and paint missing, ready for easy restoration. The outer ring diameter is 15.75" and the inner ring inside opening is 6 1/8" Wisconsin residents add 5.5% state and county tax.

The louvers open and close very freely. There is some surface rust attached. Needs to be cleaned. I removed the grate from a Victorian house in Central New York. No cracks. Antique Victorian CAST IRON FLAT Floor/Ceiling Heat Register GRATE Vent-16x11
This came out of an 1870s. 2 story house& it was being used with another grate with louvers in the room above. That other louver grate is being sold separately. The patterns of the 2 don't match exactly but from 1 room to another, it isn't noticeable. This offering is for the flat one. Which was mounted over an opening on the ceiling in a downstairs room while the louvered one, was in an opening on the floor in the bedroom directly above& they were lined up to make a unit. Before central heating became the standard. These were in all old homes, usually located next to a chimney flue to let the heat from a free standing stove rise to the upstairs. The outside dimensions are 16 inches long x 11 inches wide. On the back. There is a little ridge where it would sit into an opening, shown in 2nd to last photo. That ridge is slightly ... moreless than an inch from the edge on all 4 sides, forming an inner dimension of 14 x 9 inches. It weighs 5.5 pounds before packing. You are bidding on 1(one) VINTAGE ANTIQUE DECORITIVE ORNATE ROUND CAST IRON FLOOR. WALL OR CEILING REGISTER GRATE GRILLE. This is just how I acquired it. I do not know how old this is so I’ll let you be the judge. The outside face is 9 3/16” in diameter and the inside lip diameter is approximately 7 15/16” and 3/16” deep. The overall thickness is approximately 3/8” It doesn’t appear to be marked. It does have two 3/16”countersunk mounting holes. There is surface rust throughout but appears to have no cracks or chips. It weighs approximately 2 pounds. Overall it is in excellent solid condition. I’ll leave the cleaning and restoration to the professionals. If you like the rust look then you will love this. This may be the one you have been looking for to start or complete that restoration project. This is undoubtedly one of the nicest grates we've ever acquired over the years. Absolutely no chips, cracks, or breaks to be found. It is SUPER NICE. Very, very decorative with eight starred decorative center being raised probably about 1" from the main surface. Also, the center does rotate in the given slots. The grate is very heavy cast iron, weighing in at about 6# 15-1/4" in diameter x 1-1/4" thick. Please enlarge all pictures to see the condition and details the best. Antique cast iron Decorative Victorian Gothic Chandelier. Very nice complete and undamaged light. I could not find any markings on the fixture but all 3 porcelain sockets are marked MARKEL. It is very dirty. Has a fairly thick layer of grim covering it. But it is possible to see some of the original finish underneath just not well enough to tell the colors without cleaning. The sockets may be able to be saved but the wire should be replaced. Overall it is in good solid condition. Please look over the pictures and ask questions when needed. The only issue is the crack on both sides of the left screw hole and then on top of the plus right next to it and then under the next scroll all within 3 1/2" of the side.
