Antique Cast Iron Grate Heat Register Vent Ornate Architectural Salvage 2276
2276 Boy the stories this thing could tell! It's an old Cast Iron Wall Grate and Vent. I've done NOTHING to alter it. This is exactly as we found it. You can choose to strip and repaint it.OR leave it with the chippy old white paint. It's in solid condition with no cracks. The little lever is stuck and I've not even tried to pry it open. Also. The metal border on the back is bent. You could remove it altogether, or try to take it off and bend it back. So many times when we find these they no longer even HAVE the back hardware so it's nice that we found this with that in place. Measures 11 3/4" wide and 9 3/4" tall. The back opening measures 10 1/8" wide by 8" tall. Nice decorative old architectural piece would be perfect for any number of projects. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. There is one complete register in good working order with no cracks or breaks. The second piece has the face only. Great decor piece, and it has one small crack. Everything is cast iron. They are very ornate. There is black paint with light surface rust. The face is 15 inches wide by 12.75 tall. The other is 14.75 by 12.75 and is 2.25 deep. The inset is 11.75 wide by 10.25 tall. Overall they are in good condition. Marked in one louver in molded lettering“Patented May 1882 SIMONDS MFG CO 50 Cliff St NY” About 14” tall. About 11½” across at widest point; about 2½” front to back. Measurements taken on outer decorative face; dimensions across louver section is less. Fine vintage condition, no breakage. Mostly old paint with only some minor flaking in crevices of scrollwork. Some typical paint drips/streaks slopped on edges when surrounding walls were painted over the years.

This is from a very old church in New London CT that was demolished yeeeeeears ago. I was driving to work at JAN Electronics and a man was placing this on the curb near a trash can. I jumped out of my truck and asked him for it. He said they had had four of them and were putting them out on the curb one by one so they could see four people get one instead of one person get all four! I was the last one! I love New London. It says"NO 30" on the back It has traveled with me in my former Navy wife life. If I didnt need money so very badly I would keep it forever. I love it. Victorian Cast Iron Heat Register Grate Vent Architectural Salvage Nice Design!
Nice Victorian cast iron floor grille heat grate register with louvers made by Tuttle and Bailey MFC. Co. NY. Patented in 1886. This wonderful antique heat duct register includes the cover plate and a louver assembly underneath. This piece has a pretty pattern on the cast iron cover and the louvers are in good working order controlled by thumb-wheel-type mechanism. The top of the grille measures approx. 13 3/4 inches long by 9 13/16 inches wide. From the front to back it measures about 2 inches. The grille needs a floor opening of about 11 1/4 inches X 7 1/4 inches. The unit has some peeling paint. Also as seen in the photos. If you look at the top left side of the unit, in one spot towards the top, an area of the pattern is diminished. I am not sure if this is due to slight chipping of the metal or just chipping away of the paint. With some ... morenew paint and cleaning this vent would be a beautiful addition to your home.

Iowa Patented Aug 31, 1887' It is adjustable to open and close by turning the circular design piece. It is 15 1/2 inches across. Made to fit a 13 1/4 inch hole.
