Remove those cheap tin imported air grates from your walls and install one of these beauties in your home. This grate can be used in the floor. The face plate measures 10 1/2" round. The air duct opening is 8 5/8" I stripped all the paint layers and sprayed with clear acrylic lacquer finish. This clear finish has scratch and water resistance. There are no cracks in the castings. I will pack safely with tons of foam. You are invited to bid on an old cast iron heat register grate from a wall or floor. MEASUREMENTS: Outside- 11½" in Diameter Inside measurements for actual opening- 9½" in Diameter. This is a very nice Victorian heat register grate. It has an ornate design with a center lever. There are no numbers or names inside. The grate is in"as-found" condition. There are several layers of paint on it(black. Brown, red) and there is some surface rust. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly, and the fins open and close easily. There are absolutely NO breaks or cracks in the casting! Here is an antique floor register or vent. This is a decorative cast iron piece with louvers on the back that open and close when you move the slider at the center. The top of this register is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The back is tapered. With the bottom measuring 6 3/4 inches. I think it will need a 7 1/2 inch opening in the floor. This register has remnants of the original black japanned finish. Where the finish is missing there is light rust. The slider works. Up for auction is a Decorative Vintage Victorian Cast Iron Round Floor Register Heat Vent Grate. The grate is round and it is a bit rusty color. But not pitted, with the residual original black paint. There’s a slide lever on the front that moves the three louvers easily. The motion is flawless and they stay open, or closed. There appears to be an"S" in the center of the design. It measures 8-3/8” in diameter on the front and 6- 3/4” on the back. And the back depth is 1 ¾” Please take a good look at the photos for the condition. This is heavy. And well made, with great detail. I have not seen one like it. Vintage steel round floor heat register vent grate
Your looking at a round decorative floor register. I removed the caked on coats of paint to make it easy for the buyer to apply their own color. I also cleaned and gave the louvers a light coat of flat black paint. The decorative part was left unpainted and the bare steel is showing. I done this so the register was clean to handle for the buyer and so they will have a small amount of preparation to paint it. The rough opening measurement is 8 inches in diameter. Overall is 9 1/2 inches in diameter. The louvers function properly. Look at my pictures they are part of my description. This is a beautiful cast iron Victorian floor register. It is 9- 5/16" across and is designed to fit an 8" round opening. It is 2- 1/8" deep when closed and 2- 5/8" deep when open. Most of the original finish had worn off. So we wire brushed this register and gave it a hand rubbed oil and wax finish suitable for interior use. It is ready to be installed.
