You are bidding on an Antique Decorative Cast Iron Arched Heat Wall Grate Register Vent- marked Pat'd June 26 1894. The piece measures 14" at the tallest point. 10" wide and about 2 1/2" thick at most points. It is marked 8 x 12- I assume to be used in an 8 x 12 hole. This is a great looking piece and could be used as intended as everything works and moves at it should. It would make a great wall hanging. It is in overall good condition. This is an old piece and is not perfect. Please examine the pictures closely and determine condition for yourself as I am not an expert. Up for auction is a Decorative Vintage Victorian Cast Iron Round Floor Register Heat Vent Grate. The grate is round and it is a bit rusty color. But not pitted, with the residual original black paint. There’s a slide lever on the front that moves the three louvers easily. The motion is flawless and they stay open, or closed. There appears to be an"S" in the center of the design. It measures 8-3/8” in diameter on the front and 6- 3/4” on the back. And the back depth is 1 ¾” Please take a good look at the photos for the condition. This is heavy. And well made, with great detail. I have not seen one like it. antique cast iron primitive yet decorative grate, wall or floor hardware decor
This grate is 12" X 10" across decorative cast iron face. It is currently 2 1/2" deep from CI front to back of tin; the tin and galvanized strip will come right off if buyer would like me to remove it for thinner package(it would then be just over an inch thick) It was applied to adapt grate. And I can easily cut off with tin snips if wanted. The lever to open and close trap is a bit sticky from paint, but works and will loosen up; it is highlighted in photograph#2.

Antique. Dated 1886, Cast Iron Heating Grate Vent Salvaged From An Old House in Corning. N.Y. I picked these up many years ago in Corning New York. The Post Office was building a new branch on Baker Street on Corning's Northside. In order to accomodate the Post Office many old homes. Some of them over 100 years old, had to be demolished. Some of the home owners were smart enough to sell off the fixtures, oak flooring, beautiful molding, windows, doors and heating registers. I was lucky to find six matching heat register vents before the house was demolished. All the heating grate vents are in very good condition aside from some minor wear. All of them were originally wall mounted. There are no cracks or breaks. All are marked Patented 1886- 8 1/2 C Cx. The 8 1/2 must refer to the rough opening needed to install the vents. Measurements: ... moreback side 8" wide x 12" tall x 1" deep(not counting the face plate) Faceplate is 9 7/8" wide x 14" tall. This vent is missing it's center lourve. The lourves open and close with ease. There is some minor surface rust on the backside(see the photos) This heating rate vent is heavy. It weighs 7 pounds before packing. I am selling a vintage Decorative ornately carved Wood grate or vent cover. The carving on the vent cover appears to be a bird amongst leaves and flowers. The vent cover is approximately 16 inches long and about 5 3/4inches wide.And approximately 1 1/4 inches deep. Each of the four corners have an approximate 5/8 inch notch cut out of the wood which may have allowed it to fit into a certain sized opening. The wood has not been cleaned or restored. There is residual turquois, orange, gold and green paint on the front and side surfaces of the vent. The carving in the vent is very ornate and intricate and would look very nice hanging on a wall or for display as well.
