Antique Cast Iron Arts Crafts Tudor Gothic Fireplace Coal Grate Electric Fire
This ingenious creation by the Adams Company of Dubuque Iowa dates from the middle 1910s-early 1920s and adapts a genuine cast iron fireplace coal grate. It measures 10 ½” deep with the back height 16 ½” and the front height 13 ½” It tapers toward the back so it is 22 ½” wide at the front and only13 ½” wide at the back. The assembly is well cast with Arts and Crafts detail painted black and accented in gold. They have substituted a tin bottom for the coal grille and installed a single porcelain socket and side switch with pin wheel blade suspended in the middle. The standard base socket accommodates a red bulb(missing) whose heat provides updraft that makes the pinwheel spin offering a“flickering” effect. Further fire-like atmosphere was often achieved by installing clear or colored glass marbles(such as those found ... moreat craft stores) that offered a glowing coal effect. Antique Gothic Cast Iron Floor Register Grate From OLD Catholic Church 14" x 16"
I recently purchased a number of grates in this style from 19th Cebtury Catholic Church here in Southern Indiana that had remodeled and no longer needed these. This measure 14 inches by 16 inches. This is in good condition with no cracks or breaks. I believe the surface rust will clean up nicely. I have larger sizes available if you need them. Late 1800's Culver Victorian Era Cast Iron wall Grate/Register. Very fancy register with with a bronze center turnkey. Which is marked"Culver Patent" Impressive register with Gothic arches,grapevines and Acanthus. Rarely offered this nice. The bronze center louver operator was epoxied on by the previous owner,as it would have had a shaft that attached to the louvers. As a decorative architectural piece, it seems to be on there solidly. Very minor surface rust,as one would expect on unpainted/unfinished cast iron. It is very dirty. Has a fairly thick layer of grim covering it. But it is possible to see some of the original finish underneath just not well enough to tell the colors without cleaning. This fabulous treasure is made of ornately cast iron, and is fully assembled with 3 air-flow louvers that operate smoothly via the center lever on the top. The top measures 8 3/8" in diameter. And the bottom assembly measures 6 7/8" in diameter. The grate is very sturdy and solid. But it does need wire brushed and refinished. As can be seen in my photos. There are no cracks or chips. Antique Cast Iron Heat Grate Vent Register Gothic Hardware Vintage Old 4366-15
Antique cast iron heat vent register with functioning cast iron louvers. Very nice decorative Gothic pattern. It is marked with a patent date and the opening size on the back but the manufacturer is unknown. The louvers do function but they are tight the thumb mechanism is a little hard to turn. There are no cracks. Or breaks. It has been painted a gold color. Overall good usable condition. Please look over the pictures and ask questions when needed. Thanks for looking.
