ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HEAT REGISTER ARCH TOP FLOOR WALL GRATE ORNATE WITH LOUVERS
Auction is for an antique cast iron arch top grate. To be used in a wall or in the floor if you like. This one is very unusual in that it has a wonderful white enamel finish on the front much like the old cast iron bath tubs had. It is as seen in the photos and if you look closely you will see a few small chips in the white finish. It is 15" WIDE x 12 3/4" TALL. It is in good working order and has no cracks and no pitting. It would look wonderful in a bathroom or wherever a special grate is needed. GREAT CAST IRON GRATE!

Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare 19th Century Victorian ANTIQUE CAST IRON ARCHITECTURAL ARCH-TOP HEAT REGISTER GRATE with Working Louvers and Original Paint. This measures approx. 13 1/2" x 10" and fits approx. 11" x 7 1/2" opening. There is a Switch in the front center that turns to open and shut the louvers. The Top Pin on one of the louvers is not secure. But the mechanism still works, but should be oiled. This is very Rare, Don't pass this one up, I haven't seen one like this for sale before! MEASUREMENTS: Outside- 13" x 15" Inside measurements for actual opening- 11" x 13" This is a beautiful Victorian heater grate. It has magnificent detail. There are flowers. Leaves and flourishes on the face. It is lovely to look at and is decorative as well as functional. There are four fins(louvers) on the back. The left center louver is stamped: PATENTED MAY 30 1882 THE SIMONDS MFG. CO. 50 CLIFF ST. NY This is a heavy old grate in very good"as found" condition. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly. And the fins open and close easily. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. There is one complete register in good working order with no cracks or breaks. The second piece has the face only. Great decor piece, and it has one small crack. Everything is cast iron. They are very ornate. There is black paint with light surface rust. The face is 15 inches wide by 12.75 tall. The other is 14.75 by 12.75 and is 2.25 deep. The inset is 11.75 wide by 10.25 tall. Overall they are in good condition. The face plate measures 13 3/4" x 10" The air duct opening is 11 1/4" x 7 1/2" Marked PATENTED JUNE 26. 1894. The front grate is the raised style giving it more depth than a flat face grate. The grate was stripped of all the old layers of paint. I then washed it with water and what is left is clean cast iron. The screws are loose and removable and the louvers move freely. MEASUREMENTS: Outside measurements: 12¾" Wide x 14¾" Long Inside measurements for actual opening: 11" x 13" This pretty arched top heater grate was salvaged from an old house in North Philadelphia. It has a plain border. There is an overall pattern of swirls and curls. Stamped on the back of the grate on louvers: 11x13 The original finial is on the the lever. The lever works properly. And the vents open and close easily. There are absolutely NO breaks or cracks in the casting! Please check our seller's list for other heater grates.
