For auction is a Vintage Art Deco Style Metal Heating Vent Grate or Register. This nice old register measures 14 1/2" x 16" and still has the Damper Flap intact. While the wire twist mechanism to adjust is missing. The vent is in very good condition with just some wall paint around the back edge and paint speckling overall- should clean up very nice. The design is very nice with arch shaped cathedral window openings on the outer sides and square and rectangular shapes forming the center part. With the exception of a No. 8& 10 stamped on one side. MEASUREMENTS: Outside- 9¾" Wide x 11½ High" Inside measurements for actual opening- 8" Wide x 10 High" This is a very nice old grate. Even though it was manufactured in the late 1800's. It has an Art Deco look to it. There are half circles, slanted lines and squares. On the outside of the center fin: PATENTED APPLIED FOR THE SIMONDS MFG. CO. 50 CLIFF ST. NY The grate is in"as-found" condition. There is black paint on it. And there is some light rust. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly, and the fins open and close easily. There are absolutely NO breaks or cracks in the casting! Rare Art Deco Design Cast Iron Wall Grate - Symonds Pattern 1900 #234
This is a beautiful vintage antique wall mountable heat grate. Imprinted on the back at the top of the piece is Symonds Pat. Sept 18-1900. June 25-07, Feb 24-14 July 17-17. The Symonds imprint is the company, and then proceeding that the dates in which the pattern was made. Imprinted on the back at the bottom is the number 234. Which I believe to be the number documenting its place in inventory. As for the condition of the piece. It is vintage so there are signs of a little bit of rust. But it is cast iron, so extremely sturdy. I have not attempted to clean up the metal or give any treatments to it as I did not want to ruin the antique/vintage wear. The flapping device that opens and closes functions perfectly. There are two holes on the left and right border for screws to mount the grate to the wall. This is a nice cast iron grate from the Art Deco era. Maker unknown. The grate is in excellent condition for it's age. No breaks. Chips or cracks.It has been painted silver Not a great paint job. So you may want to strip and re-paint it. It is a heavy piece. Very well made and sturdy. It is 16" in height. 16 1/2" wide at the top and flares out to 17-18.5"s at the middle and 19" wide at the bottom. The outer lip of the panel is 12" h x 15" w. Antique Art Deco 1907 Metal Grate Grille Heat Vent Register Louvered Cover
Hello your is a great metal air vent cover for your consideration. Overall the vent measures 11 1/2 inches wide by nine and three-quarter inches tall from the front. The inside opening of the vent is approximately 9 1/2 inches wide by seven and three-quarter inches tall. It does pivot it so the vent can be open or closed to control airflow. It appears to have the original black paint and does have scratches and surface rust starting as seen in the photographs. The back also has a spot of paint is seen in the photographs as well. The metal flap that opens and closes does have slight bends from use. But should not affect the function of the vent. The backside of the vent is marked and has a patent date of September 18, 1900 and it looks like July 25 of 1907. Antique Vintage Wall Heat Register - Grate - Art Deco
Vinta ge Metal Wall Heat Re gister. Has a copper patina look. Although it is not copper. Very art deco. Does need a spit and polish. Comes with the outside collar so once attached it slides to the wall to finish the look. Some surface rust on inside of collar. Measurement with the outside collar is approx. 14 inches wide. 12 inches high. About an inch at the top, 2 1/2 inches at bottom. It does have a couple dents, easily straightened(see pics) The grate without the collar is 13 1/2 inches wide, 9 1/2 inches tall. The screw hole is 4 3/4 inches from the bottom. The flap that would go into the wall is 10 3/4 inches wide, 7 inches high. Please feel free to ask questions. From experience I know it's hard to get just the right fit. Check out my! This thick cast iron grate has a radiating sun design! The 10" x 13" measurement is from the center of the outside border. It is marked 10 and 13 in two places, and also is marked Pat. Sept. 1, 1903. It is super sturdy, not rusty, really nice condition, so not sure why two pieces in the design are missing or broken, but I didn't even notice it right away. #1 Antique Register Vent Cover Grate 14 x 14 Vtg Art Deco Design Metal Japanning
Unusual antique register vent cover from a Late-Victorian home. Has a spider web design cast iron center grate that is ultra Art Deco and is decorated with original copper& black"Japanning" which really sets it off. Measures 14" by 14" overall. This is one of 2 identical fixtures that I have currently listed on ebay so please see my other listings. This unit is complete and functioning. The center grate area is connected to a damper panel behind it that opens or closes off air flow. As you can see in the photos there are two separate pieces.the vent cover seats into the wall mount frame which is slightly slanted. All nice original condition with only normal light surface wear.
