The face plate measures 13 5/8 x 10 3/4" The air duct opening is 11 5/8" x 8 5/8" A quick search will show you that this is very rare! I have seen two more in brass and that is all I have seen out of 100’s of grates. It is cast brass and a magnet will NOT stick. It is 4 1/2 pounds of solid brass. Vintage Victorian architectural salvage cast iron heat grate with louvers. 13 3/4 by 11 3/4 inches. Fits a 12 by 10 inch hole. 5 inches tall. One screw is missing from the sheet metal sides. There is a crack in one edge. It will need to be welded. Dents in the sheet metal sides that go into the floor. A lot of surface rust. This has the decorative round insert to fill the stove pipe hole. The louvers are made with a cut that can be punched out. This is so the louvers could be used if a stove pipe is in place. You are bidding on a rare& near impossible to come by solid cast iron building attic gable vent. It came from a brick building located in Eastern Arkansas that once was a farm& ranch supply house. It measures a whopping 36 inches across and is about 1/2" thick. It weighs somewhere around 100 pounds. It was no easy task climbing up into the rafters. Then removing it from the 4 course thick brick wall and then lowering it down 2-1/2 stories with a heavy rope. Cast Iron Louver Heat Heating Floor Vent Grate
Here's an old cast iron heating floor vent-grate. It measures 15 1/2" in diameter across the top and it is about 2 3/4" deep. It is 13 1/2" across the rim that sits in the floor. It weighs about 17 lbs. It has has all over surface rust. You can easily manually move the louver's from the underside but is a little harder with the slide button piece at the top.
