Large Round Antique Cast Iron Register Grate Vent Garden Industrial 15 3/4"
This is a vintage large round cast iron outer register/vent grate. It originally has an insert in the middle that I do not have. It measures 15 3/4" across. The top band has a textured basket weave pattern and the inner band has pierced curved spokes. The black finish has and is flaking off and there is some surface rust in places that could easily be removed. I cannot find a makers mark on this piece. This great old piece has a lot of potential for any repurposing project you can think of. It is not from a pet/smoke free home. This is a Cast Iron Heat Vent. It is in 3 pieces and the one piece rotates to open and close vents on the outer band. Perhaps the open center was the air intake and the outer band was the heat output. Overall size is 15-3/4 inch. Rotating band is 13 inches across and 2-5/8 inch wide, center piece is 8 inches across. Is marked in casting IDEAL Stover Mfg. Co. Freeport, ILL. Very cool piece for restoration of display. Weighs in at close to 8 pounds. Vintage Antique Heating Vent Register Grate 15 3/4" Diameter
Up for bid is an old heating grate. Outside diameter is approx 15 3/4" and inside opening diameter is approx 6 1/4" Approx 1/4" thick. Outer ring on the front has been painted pale pink and the rest of the front is yellowish-white. All paint is chipped and peeling. Unsure how old the paint is or what kind of paint it is. The outer most edge has a braided look. Entire piece has rust. Scratches, worn areas, etc. There are two holes near the edge and two slotted areas on the outer edge of the inner piece for attaching to wall/vent. The round flowered grate measures 12 5/8 inches in diameter. And inside measurement is 7 7/8 inches across. The interior center disc measures 7 3/4 inches in diameter. It is marked with a patent date and the opening size on the back but the manufacturer is unknown. The louvers do function but they are tight the thumb mechanism is a little hard to turn.
