I also cleaned out all the lint and dust. The grate has its original black paint. The screws are loose so the front can easily be taken off to paint inside and the louvers move freely. This auction is for a vintage metal cast iron floor heat register grate with louvers. This fantastic antique floor grate is cast iron with a rotating lever for adjusting the 3 louvers below. It measures 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" overall and fits an opening of 9 3/4" x 8" and is 2" deep and it has an insized mark on the back of the flange on a small plaque that the I believe is the year 1887. It is very good condition and it opens and closes smoothly with all the louvers working properly. The top is a copper or bronze color with a fantastic patina and there is some surface oxidation but nothing that detracts from the look. This is a wonderful antique cast iron grate for finishing touches for your restoration project or for your garden! 2 MATCHING VINTAGE GOTHIC DESIGN METAL WALL REGISTER GRATES
This auction is for a pair of matching vintage metal wall heat register grates. These grates have a fantastic gothic design and are made of a heavy metal but not cast iron. They each measure 12 1/4" wide x 11 1/2" high x 2 3/8" deep at the bottom and 1 1/2" deep at the top. They both have a thumb style lever for adjusting the heat vent. They are in very good condition with no dents or other damage to the grates themselves and they still have the original mounting screws. They originally had a bronze or copper colored finish which you can still see but they have been painted at some point and for the most part the paint has been removed. There is some surface oxidation but nothing that can't be cleaned off. A wonderful pair of gothic wall grates for your restoration project! This measures approx. 13 1/2" x 10" and fits approx. 11" x 7 1/2" opening. There is a Switch in the front center that turns to open and shut the louvers. The Top Pin on one of the louvers is not secure. But the mechanism still works, but should be oiled. This is very Rare, Don't pass this one up, I haven't seen one like this for sale before! Antique 1885 Cast Iron Tuttle & Bailey Mfg. Co. Louvered Heating Grate-Primered
Up for bid is this scrolled cast iron heating grate manufactured by Tuttle& Bailey Mfg. Co. NY dated Dec. 22. 1885- Aug. 3, 1886. The grate has been completely reconditioned using an electrolysis method that removes all rust deposits and dirt without the use of sand or bead blasting that can cause pitting. The brass lever is intact and moves the louvers' easily for opening and closing. The heating grate has been painted with high heat resistance primer and ready to be installed or can be painted in a different color. Complete with original screws. Wall Insert measures 8" by 12" with a 1.75" depth. Cover plate measures 13.75" by 9.75" Weight 9.5 Lbs.

Beautiful'Auer' heat vent from around 1910 based on the numbers(8-9-10) in the casting. I rarely saw this type on Ebay when I was looking for them for our house addition. Now an extra that won't be used. So it is here for you. The Japaned finish remains under a shiny varnish like coating that is scuffed in places.
