Creamy white painted antique wood cold air grate. Shabby!!! Many uses.
This is a old cold air return grate. Its wood and has many uses in a shabby home. I would use it for a hot plate right on the table. You could hang it on the wall for architectural detail or use it for a centerpiece with a collection on it. It measures 20" across and is just under 13" wide. Its 1" high. TWO Vintage Cast Iron Heat Vent Air Register Grates Antique hardware
Up for auction are 2 antique cast iron register grates. These were both used as floor grates. One of them has ventilation control panels. The other one does not. Grate#1(with vent control panels) measures: Top side outer dimensions: 13 7/8" x 11 7/8" Bottom side dimensions that would fit into the cutout portion of the floor: 12" x 10" The vent panels currently do not open. But they do move, leading me to believe that with some minor dis-assembly and cleaning, all should work. No missing parts or cracks anywhere. Fair amount of rust. Sandblasting or wire brushing will be necessary. Grate#2(no vent panels) measures: Top side outer dimensions: 15 3/4" x 11 7/8" Bottom side dimensions that would fit into the cutout portion of the floor: 14" x 10" As can be seen in the photo. Some missing gratework in one ... morecorner. Fair amount of rust. Sandblasting or wire brushing will be necessary. Both grates have the same design. Due to their weight. Antique Cast Iron Floor Register with working Louvers up for bidding. Stamped"8X10" on all the louvers as well as the back edge- See photos. Great Geometric design on the face. The back edges measure 7.5 inches X 9.5 inches but the sides are angled so that just behind the face it measures 8 inches X 10 inches- see photos. The face measures 9.5 inches X 11 and 3/8ths inches. Ceramic Porcelain Stove Heater Top Flue Vent. Victorian. Nice Gift. Rare Unusual
This white glazed ceramic porcelain vent or flue is probably off an old gas stove or room heater from the Victorian era. Likely the late 1800s or early 1900s. It measures 11 inches long, 4 ½ inches high, and 2 ¼ inches in depth. The porcelain is crazed and has only a couple of minor cracks. I can see 2 very small chips about 1/8 inch in diameter along the base. I see no manufacturers mark, and do not really know for sure what it was originally made for. There is a 4 inch by 10 inch black metal plate on the back that can be easily unbolted if desired. You could use it as a unique holder for dried flowers. Or add a couple of glass test tubes(not included) and use it to hold a couple of freshly cut flowers. I am including a couple of plastic tube things that also could work for holding cut flowers. This would make a unique gift for ... morethat special person who likes unusual antiques. Flowers, and recycled items. This item is bubble wrapped and double boxed so it should travel well. Large and in charge cast iron grate some folks use them for patio tables some folks use them for wall hangings I just find the diamonds in the rough and let the buyers transform them into the true gems they are. This one is two piece overall it's 33 1/2" by 33 1/2" with the center section 23 1/4" wide. Made of cast iron there are no broken pieces and just needs wire brushed or sand blasted and repainted. It's monster heavy and you could install it on a second floor and drop red hots down on the peoples heads below one of my kid tricks on the 3rd floor of JC Pennys in 1958 if you desire. 2276 Boy the stories this thing could tell! It's an old Cast Iron Wall Grate and Vent. I've done NOTHING to alter it. This is exactly as we found it. You can choose to strip and repaint it.OR leave it with the chippy old white paint. It's in solid condition with no cracks. The little lever is stuck and I've not even tried to pry it open. Also. The metal border on the back is bent. You could remove it altogether, or try to take it off and bend it back. So many times when we find these they no longer even HAVE the back hardware so it's nice that we found this with that in place. Measures 11 3/4" wide and 9 3/4" tall. This one is very unusual in that it has a wonderful white enamel finish on the front much like the old cast iron bath tubs had. It is as seen in the photos and if you look closely you will see a few small chips in the white finish. It is 15" WIDE x 12 3/4" TALL. It is in good working order and has no cracks and no pitting.
