This is a very nice Victorian heat register grate. It has an ornate design with a center lever. There are no numbers or names inside. The grate is in"as-found" condition. There are several layers of paint on it(black. Brown, red) and there is some surface rust. We cleaned it off and removed the dust bunnies. We sprayed the moving parts with WD-40 so that the lever works properly, and the fins open and close easily. There are absolutely NO breaks or cracks in the casting! Here is an antique floor register or vent. This is a decorative cast iron piece with louvers on the back that open and close when you move the slider at the center. The top of this register is 8 1/4 inches in diameter. The back is tapered. With the bottom measuring 6 3/4 inches. I think it will need a 7 1/2 inch opening in the floor. This register has remnants of the original black japanned finish. Where the finish is missing there is light rust. The slider works. Up for sale is an original antique ornate round cast iron heat louvered register floor grate vent stamped"W.G. Creamer NY. Pat. Sep. 14, 1869" on the bottom of one of the louvers. This antique heating floor grate was recently removed from an 1880's central New Hampshire farmhouse. It has some thickly layered gray paint on the top. It measures 9.5" in diameter and sits about 2.25" high. There are three louvers and easily adjust(it looks like a small piece from the handle mechanism may have broken off and the adjustment handle is stuck in place from all the layers of paint) It is in as found condition with areas of rust, paint chipping, discoloration and other age related wear.
