This Auction is for A Antique Fijian Throwing Club– Ula A nice example of this style of Fijian Club. It has a large symmetrical. Bulbous sculptured head with three rows of carving. The piece has a smooth overall tactile, especially evident on the handle due to generations of handling. It has a rich patina of a dark glossy brown. This piece would date to the early 19c. It has been within a private collection in New Zealand for the past 50 years and is now being housed in Sydney. Condition: The wood is insect free. There is a chip and split in the handle as seen from the images. I have had this Ula for 20 years and have not noted any change to the split. Overall Length 41cm- Width 10cm- Weight around 700grams. Fijian Tribal War Club Ula 19th Century
This auction is for an original Fijian throwing war club called an Ula. This one appears to be early. Probably dating to the early 19th century. This weapon is in excellent condition. There is a hole at the bottom of the handle where someone had screwed in an eye screw(probably to hang it for display purposes) which I removed. 19th century Fijan Ula war club with provinance
This Ula club I am offering was purchased from the family of Mr Tony Green(Anthony Baden Green) he was in the British Merchant Navy during and a little while after WWII. He served on a Dutch Hospital ship called the Oranje. They picked up POWs from Changi and repatriated them to Australia. Shows traces of intensive use. The inlaid bone from the bottom is missing. It measures 41 cm or 16.14 inches

Stunning antique heavily carved and decorated Oceanic club. Great patina and colour. On the shaft is carved a fish and scorpion and nearly all of the surface except the lower handle part has been decorated with a geometric design. Part of the original leather wrist strap remains. From the head down it slowly tapers to the hand piece. Measures approx: 56cm or 22inches. Heavy solid piece as expected. Excellent condition for age but has two old thin splits on the head. This is a Hardwood Oceanic Throwing Club.It measures 37cm long and the club end is approx 13 cm in diameter carved in 10 segments.It weighs 1.1kg.It has a few minor'dinks'but no more than would be expected considering it's intended purpose.Believed to be Fijian.Each Polynesian favoured it's own style of warfare and produced the clubs required to execute it. The Fijians were experts at all types of club warfare. And are well known for the short ulla or round headed throwing club. Each Fijian warrior would go into the fight with three or four tucked into his belt. Some clubs had a very bloody career before being hung. 19th century Fijian Ula Tavatava War Club
This is a mid 19th century Fijian Ula Tavatava. It is in good condition. My great(x4) uncle was a sailor and brought it to the US straight from Fiji. The handle designs are quite worn. Indicating that this club was used a lot. Under the head are many dots which are a tally system, probably representing some sort of ceremonial or social events. This Ula will make a great addition to your collection.

There are many different ... morekinds of Fijian War Clubs. All designed for their own specific purposes. This antique Fijian“Ula” was meant for throwing. It is known as an“I Ula Tavatava” because of its domed head with carved lobes. There is old table shrinkage crack on one side of the head traveling down where is meets the handle. The club measures 17 ½ inches from the top of the dome to the end of the 13 ¾ inch handle. The handle, which is also carved to make it easier to grip, shows some wear from being handled over the years. Overall this Fijian Throwing Club is in original unrestored condition and you'll find it is listed without any reserve. Antique 8 lobe Fijian Ula Throwing Club
Fantastic 8 lobe Fijian Ula with geometric pattern carved into the handle. Purchased from an estate auction in the United States in which it was listed as having been collected in 1942. Exactly when it was made is unknown. The Ula measures 38cm in length. Width of the foliate head is 10cm and the depth of the head is 6cm. This Ula is in excellent museum quality condition and has no cracks or splits. Delivery charge listed is for the UK only. International bidders please contact me for a quote.

Superb Rare Antique Quadrangle Head Fijian Ula Throwing Club Tribal Collectable
An incredibly rare quadrangle head Fijian throwing club ula(I ula vutu) With 8 tally marks to the shaft probably representing kills( see photos) Purchased privately from an important u.k collection some 9-10 years ago. Superb patina. A very rare item, you could wait years for another. The shape of this represents the nut of the vutu tree, 19th century in age, superb geometric incised handle. Size 37cm in length. This is the only one on eBay. The previous owner paid circa £1000 for this many years ago. I got a good deal 9 years ago as he needed the money. It will be sold quickly as people will message me asking to end the item and I have private clients who will buy it due to its rarity and quality. 19thC Fijian Ula or Zulu Knobkerry Throwing Club Africa South Seas Tribal Weapon
Unsure if this item is African or Fijian. I was unable to find clubs from either area which used a wrap like this one. the hide appears to all one piece with no evidence or sewing or joining suggesting that it must be from a tail or leg. It does not look like cowhide. I would guess it to be pig or boar from the small amount of hair left on it. Beautifully formed with graceful onion shaped head. Excellent patina/polish from wear. 23" Long Some older cracks to shaft and head. Animal skin wrap on shaft possible native repair? Seems an unlikely place to grip it.
