Up for auction is an estate find of a vintage handcarved wood Papua New Guinea mask from the Imbaundo clan. it measures approximately 18" tall x 5 1/2" wide. It is an alligator head on top. With the eyes and nose being the rear and tail. Condition is very good. There are some minor scuffs and wear to the paint. And what seems to be an age crack by the mouth. I have this very primitive Antique Wood Carved Statue from the Yamok Tribe in Papua New Guinea up for sale in very great condition for it's age. It measures 38" tall x 33" wide x 5.5" thick. I don't not know the exact age of this wood statue. But I'm told it's over 100 years old. This is a very cool antique wood carving and looks so much better in person, because it's so unique. This carving of a bird on the back of a young boy comes from the Yamok Village in East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. The bird plays a large part of their creation story. In the begging. The Yamoks say everything was fluid. The story told of this carving is a boy swimming across a river and an injured bird landed on his back and boy saved this bird and brought it to shore symbolizing the start of their civilization.
