RARE 1800s ABORIGINAL PARRYING SHIELD AUSTRALIA BEAUTIFUL WOOD HAND CARVED LOOK!
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A HUGE LOT OF MILITARIA COLLECTIBLES. THIS WAS A PART OF THAT LOT. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. IT IS FAIRLY HEAVY FOR ITS SIZE. NOT WIDE, BUT STILL BELIEVE IT IS SOME TYPE OF SHIELD. I AM NOT CERTAIN HOW OLD THIS IS. I KNOW NOTHING ELSE ABOUT IT. SO ANY FURTHER INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED! PLEASE TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE PHOTOS.WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET! I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS WORTH. SO MAKE ME A REASONABLE OFFER AND IT IS ALL YOURS! THANKS FOR LOOKING! Early Australian Aboriginal Parrying Shield Kangaroo Emu Pyro Wonderful!!
Showing an Australian Aboriginal Parrying Shield. 25" long, 5.5" across middle, with a back deeply hand carved handle. I'm sorry. I don't know the region or age. This piece came to me from a collector of indiginous art from several continents: Americans. Africa, Canada and Australia. This parrying shield has carved and pyrography designs: Kangaroo. Emu and and overall design on the front and design appears on the back as well: appears to have an ocre colored wash. There is no varnish. Also. I don't think it's a hard wood. There is a ding on the upper tip and a small. 1/2" gouge on one front edge. The artwork is clean and color is strong. This is a wonderful decorative piece and I think for a collector of aboriginal art. A great addition to a collection. Please. If you have concerns or questions, email me! I'm ... morehappy to answer all questions as best as I can being that I know nothing about this type of art form. The shield weighs 1.5 pounds; it will require an oversized box. I'm going to say 20.00 USA shipping. International most welcome. Please email with location and I'll quote exact shipping. No handling fees. Thank you. Payment within 3 days. Please.

Superb Early Arrentre Beanwood Aboriginal shield
A Superb Early Arrentre Aboriginal shield. Applied red ochre pigment. Indigenous spinifex resin plug to one end. Worn from age and use. Good examples like this one are becoming hard to find. A classic old example that would date from the early 1900's. Measures 555mm long.
19th Century Queensland Aboriginal shield on metal stand
Early North East Queensland 19th century shield including custom made metal stand SIZE: Width 16cm Length 69cm This early hardwood shield was collected in 1900 and was owned by an important South Australian collector. Its round form and painted design is characteristic of these rarely found shields from North East Queensland. These shields were used to defend off attacking blows from hand held clubs which were sometimes embedded with hob nails. This example has good signs of use and a patina to the handle which suggests its older than the collection date. FREIGHT: The purchaser is to pay the cost of shipping and handling. Dynamic Aboriginal Painted Shield - Eastern Kimberley W/A 1960's
This boldly painted shield was collected in the Eastern Kimberley in the 1960's. The face of the shield has an interlocking design painted with a mixture of paint and ochres. The layers of paint suggest this shield was used in ceremony several times. The thickness of the red paint is in contrast to the white pigment that looks to have painted over an orange ochre. The reverse has bands of carving and paintwork and a small section of engraved lines. This a compelling shield and photo's do not do it justice. It measures 75cm x 12.5cm. Registered Post within Australia will cost between $14US and $18US dependant on the postcode. Airmail to the US $36AU and anywhere in Europe $45AU
19thC Aboriginal La Grange Bay Parrying Shield - Karajarri People West Australia
A spectacular parrying shield from the Karajarri People of the Kimberley of Western Australia. This shield has been in our collection for ten years and is amongst the best I have seen. The reverse has a slight variant to the interlocking key design normally carved on Karajarri shields and there are traces of ceremonial paint. The handle has three star designs engraved and the face has been partially carved with fluting. The surface has a superb patina and there is a small hole drilled to one end- see pic. It measures 70cm x 11cm. Registered Post within Australia will cost between $14AU and $18AU.
Very Fine 19thC West Australian Aboriginal Wunda Shield
A fine example originating from the Goldfields of Western Australia. Collected in the 1920's this shield would easily date to the 19th Century. The face has a deeply carved zig zag design and the reverse has banded engraving and a fine loop handle. The shield has a few small chips and a stable crack to one end which is expected with age. It measures 69.5cm x 13cm. Registered Post within Australia will cost between $14AU and $24AU dependant on the postcode. Airmail to the US $35AU and anywhere in Europe $46AAU. PLEASE VISIT www.pacificarts.com.au TO VIEW MORE ITEMS FOR SALE.
