Hello and welcome to my auction. For sale you have a beautiful old"Kundu" drum from the Papuan Gulf Region in Papua New Guinea. A diminutive 48 cm in height hence most likely made for a child so that he could practice and learn how to play from an early age, hardwood, strong dark patina and wear, I'd say first half of the 20th C, in great condition with no flaws or losses and with its lizard skin intact, so tight it could still be played. This example presents 4 carved ancestor faces on its fish-mouth or crocodile-mouth finial, and is an authentic and old example of this type of artefacts, with deep carvings, raised noses and a rich patina that photos will never be able to fully capture. Provenance: from a collection of tribal art I have recently acquired. This large collection comprised of many authentic artefacts. With some ... morereally important pieces mainly from the PNG area including Sepik, Abelam, Papuan Gulf, Massim etc. It had been in storage for many years, and was recently found among the content of a storage unit sold at auction. I am in the process of listing some of the pieces on eBay, please keep an eye out for my other auctions. Please note. The metal stand is not included in the auction. Shipping: this item will cost 40$ for international mail. 20$ within Australia. Payment: Paypal for international buyers. Australian buyers please pay via direct deposit if you can, otherwise PayPal is also accepted. Please note: payment is expected within 3 days from the end of the auction, if this could be a problem please contact me. If you have any questions at all regarding this auction or ANY other issue please don't hesitate to contact me. Just don't leave it to the last minute. I have listed plenty of pictures for everyone to make up their mind, please bid ONLY if you are serious about buying. Thank you all. Enjoy the auction!

Old New Guinea rare Longnose Mask; Papuan Gulf?/Sepik
For sale this very characterfull and rare type of mask with a long nose from New Guinea. I believe this mask is from either the Papuan Gulf or the Blackwater river area. It is composed of rattan. Clay and a hard'booneshield' Remarkable with this combination is that like 80% of the thinner clay and pigment are still in good condition as well as the long(vulnerable) nose and even some feathers suspending from the tip! It comes on the nice stand also from which it can be(easily) taken off. I estimate it at savely 1920's or before. Ah also the original casuarifeather"beard" is still present Condition; very good considering its composition; some clay loss/cracks and some near its mouth secured with(wood-glue. See the 3rd pic.
