This one was labelled"Buginese Badik, Celebes" so I assume its origin is Sulawesi(Celebes) For Bugis I found: The Bugis are an Austronesian ethnic group—the most numerous of the three major linguistic and ethnic groups of South Sulawesi. In the southwestern province of Sulawesi, third largest island of Indonesia.2] The Austronesian ancestors of the Bugis people settled on Sulawesi around 2500 B.C.E. It has been hypothesised that there is"historical linguistic evidence of some late Holocene immigration of Austronesian speakers to South Sulawesi from Taiwan" which means that the Bugis have"possible ultimate ancestry in South China" ... moreand that as a result of this immigration, there was an infusion of an exogenous population from China or Taiwan.3] The Bugis in 1605 converted to Islam from Animism.4] Although many Bugis live in the large port cities of Makassar and Parepare, the majority are farmers who grow wet rice on the lowland plains to the north and west of the town of Maros. OLD ANTIQUE SUMATRAN KERIS DAGGER PENINSULAR OR BUGIS
Being offered is an old antique Sumatran keris dagger that is most probably Bugis or Peninsular in origin. The keris measures 18 1/2" when measured in its scabbard. The keris has a nice old handle. Blade and I believe the top throat to the scabbard with the ferrule and the lower stem and mounts of the scabbard are later replacements. The handle is nicely carved, wood with a nice patina, having an age split to the lower half near the ferrule and a second one to the reverse side but the handle still holds solid. The blade is a robust one but unfortunately has some pitting throughout. It currently has a dark patina and you can see the pamor through the patina and the lamination along the edge of the blade. The upper throat is wood, nice patina, with some age splits but holding solid. The lower half is also wood, but the wood with a different ... morepatina, so probably a later replacement, with white metal bands with floral motifs. The ferrule is metal with some kind of finish or paint. Would make a good restoration or study piece. Please e-mail with any questions. Specially one with a beautifull Blade like this one. Blade of typical form(sepokal) with typical pamor(ujung gunung) The blade has still it's original stain and never has had deep corrosion but minor surface rust. I think that the collar from white metal(no silver) in down at the scabbard is a later addition but already long attached. Pendokok seems to be from silver and is set with clear stones(glass? Three are missing. Crosspiece of the scabbard from kemuning wood. Wooden parts with great warm patina. Purchased from an old german collection. 42 cm sheathed, blade without pesi 30 cm. MAGNIFICENT ORIGINAL OLD KERIS KRIS DAGGER BUGIS MALAY – INTERESTING RARE PAMOR
Up for sale is an absolutely MAGNIFICENT and original hard to find Bugis keris dagger. Not only is the dress antique/old but what is so striking about it is that the wavy blade has a strange raised pamor pattern on both sides of the blade. The pamor looks like some kind of an interconnecting symbols running across the blade from tip to bottom. Either that or it may look like a strand of interconnecting circles or chain with two or more dots in the center of each circle. This is based on my personal observation. The pamor would have come out a lot better or clearer had the blade been etched. But this is how I got the keris since day one and I never had it etched. Whatever the pattern turns out to be I strongly believe it is a rare find. The old wooden sheath is decorated with handcrafted silver plates in its original motif– not to be confused ... morewith Balinese motif. The last 4 pictures show typical Muslim influenced Bugis/Malay motif. Then there are 5 silver rings on the lower part of the sheath. The wooden handle is sitting on a silver cup engraved in floral motif. This is the best keris dagger I have from that particular region. You will not be disappointed. Pictures tell all. NICE OLD ANTIQUE BUGIS SULAWESI KERIS KRIS DAGGER SWORD
Being offered is a nice old antique Bugis keris dagger. It measures 16 1/2" in total length when measured in its scabbard. The handle is made from wood in bent over position with eyes and nose. Some of the original stain has worn away in sections creating a 2 tone appearance. It is missing the cup that fits below the handle. Nice stout blade with sharp edges. Has a distinct pamor pattern down the central portion of the blade. Some sharpening or grinding marks visible along the edges and the tip is slightly rounded. The scabbard is a lovely wood with a nice patina. The top portion has come loose from the stem and needs to be glued back. It is missing the very bottom piece. Very nice Golok from Indonesia Tribal Pencak Silat Sword This is an original and very nice Golok from Indonesia. A golok as a tradiditonal fighting sword from Indonesia that was used also in Pencak Silat fighting. This one has a very nice pamor blade. This indicates as magic sword, that was probably a pusaka blade(given from father to son) The sword is quite thick, solid and heavy(as it should be for its original purpose) The length of this very good Blade is 31 cm. The Golok in total is 43 cm. Off course the low starting bid is less then the actual value and only to encourage you to give a good bid on this nice Golok.
