Beautiful New Guinea Shell Currency Ring.
Beautiful New Guinea Shell Currency Ring. Description: Hello. My name is Greg Hamson. I am the brother of Oceanic Art dealer Michael Hamson. I have been working with Michael for the past few years and have now started my own company—Art of the South Seas. From my experience field collecting in some of the more remote areas of Papua New Guinea I have assembled a large inventory of objects and, more importantly, an extensive knowledge of the art. Recently I have been fortunate to obtain a large private collection of Pacific art here in the United States that has bolstered my inventory. So feel confident that what you are buying here is an older authentic piece of Oceanic art that is 100% unconditionally guaranteed—forever. And if you have older, authentic items of Oceanic art I am aggressively buying material and will pay top prices for individual ... moreitems or entire collections. Shell Ring" Beautiful New Guinea shell currency ring. Probably Boiken or Abelam culture, notice notches on top that are stylized reference to the hornbill-the primary totem animal in the area. This is a great 19th century example with a smooth, rounded surface. Piece comes nicely mounted on custom made stand. 4-7/8(12.5cm)
KINA SHELL tribal bangle bracelet currency money ring PAPUA New Guinea
The ring is about 4 inches in diameter. The darker area at the bottom of picture six is a depression in the shell and so the width is much less in this area. It is smooth but for some fractures pretty much opposite the dark. Depressed area and on the other side of the disc. It doesn't appear to be broken but you can feel the uneven surface with your finger. I've taken many pictures seemingly identical to try and capture the most accurate facsimile without the flash distorting the appearance too much. It is indeed a reflective and luminescent material. Shipping will be by Standard International and averages 7 to 14 days. Cost is determined by the weight of the packed item plus the cost of the packaging plus the registration fee(if applicable) The fluctuating exchange rate from US dollar to Thai baht is also a factor. Please keep in ... moremind that Ebay and Paypal take a combined almost 15% in fees from any transferred monies(this includes deduction from the shipping charge. Meaning that if you transfer $10 for shipping only about $8.50 arrives with which to ship) To offset this, I add 15% I don't try to make money on the shipping though I do not want to lose money, either, and do my best to arrive at the most accurate and fair price for both buyer and seller. Returns are accepted within 14 days of the consignment with the item undamaged and in it's original shipping state. Return shipping expenses are the obligation of the consignee. However, the item can be returned to a US address provided at the time of the return. The consignee will be contacted if the item cannot be accepted because it does not conform to the above reported conditions. In this case, the consignee will have the opportunity to have the item resent at the consignee's expense. In the case that this shipment is refused, the seller reserves the right to keep the item and corresponding monies.
