Here is an elegant antique Victorian hand painted glass biscuit or cracker jar with a silver plated lid and fancy embossed silver plated handle. The piece measures 6-1/4" high. 8-1/4" high with the lid on, and 10-1/2" high with the handle up by 5-3/4" in diameter. The hand painted flowers are very well executed. The piece retains it's original silver plated lid, which is marked: VAN BERCH SILVER PLATE CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE ROCHESTER, N.Y. in a circle and bears the# 3105. The piece is in excellent used condition, no chips or cracks to the glass and no dings or dents to the metal. Up for consideration is a lovely antique. Mary Gregory, hand-painted, Cranberry art glass powder jar in beautiful condition. This exquisite piece depicting a stag in the forest has copper metal details. It stands 2 1/2" and is 3 1/4" wide. There are no chips. Scratches or major defects. The copper hinge is partly torn on the inside of the jar.The bottom of the jar shows minor wear. The satin glass body is beautifully hand painted with a floral design. This biscuit jar measures 9 inches tall(w/ lid) 11 1/4 to the top of the handle, and 5 1/2 in at the widest part. Nakara C.F. Monroe Cigar Humidor/ Jar 1900's This is a beautiful original jar for storing cigars. Most likely for those women who smoked cigars in the late 19th century! I did some research on the web on CF Monroe Co. and this is what I found. In 1880 Charles Fabyan Monroe started his own business in Meriden. Connecticut selling imported glass and soon his first shop was enlarged to become a decorating studio and showroom. By 1886 the studio evolved into the C.F. Monroe Company. The company became renowned for its elegant and finely decorated Victorian opal glass known as“Wave Crest” a name which has virtually become a synonym for the Monroe Company itself. I can see no marks or writing anywhere on the pot– either it has worn off or was possibly on the lid which went missing and is not included. The glass on this jar is in very good condition- still a beautiful creamy white! Very c lean with only a couple of very small marks. And thick! I would estimate the glass to be at least a quarter inch thick. The paint is still exquisite! Jar has three BEAUTIFUL Birds painted on it. They are all types of Egrets or Herons and the colors are still vibrant and spectacular! Also beautiful grass. Flowers and leaves have held their color as well! I am sure the birds and flowers are hand-painted as you actually feel the design when you run your hand over them. Absolutely ... moregorgeous! I also believe it was hand-spun- the circles can clearly be seen on the bottom! The Jar stands about 6 inches tall. It sits on a 4 ¼ inch in diameter brass base with two small discolored green spots– please check pictures. The jar opening measures about 3 ¼ in diameter and has a brass rim with handle. No green spots here. But the brass has aged. This is a gorgeous old pot oozing with beauty and character! Vintage Antique Green Glass Flat Bottom Spooner, Hand Painted Flowers & Gilted
Up for viewing is an antique hand painted depression green glass spooner with gilted edges and leaves. I bought this at an estate sale and it had an old hand written piece of masking tape on it that said"spooner" I talked to the family and they believe. Based on memory, that it's from at least the 30's. It stands 4.5" high. The top is 4.5" in diameter and the base is 2.5" in diameter. There is no makers mark but the bottom has a cut glass snowflake mark. The rim of the spooner is scalloped and gilted. Around the spooner are two hand painted flowers. pink& white and orange, yellow& white) with light green and gilted leaves. Beautiful! Condition: there are two small dots of paint splatter. O ver the pink there is a lot of“lacey” gold detail painted on the lid and all around the jar. The paintings are still very colorful& vibrant. Inside there is a mirror on the lid which is all intact with no cracks or chips. The inside bottom of the jar is decorated with painted flowers. The metal hardware looks to be brass and in very good condition. It could maybe us a little polishing but it is all secure to the jar and the hinge works perfectly. Most of these that I see still with their markings were made in Germany or some other European country and likely c. 1940s-1950s. There is wear on the bottom from use and being moved about on surfaces. There are also the ... moreremnants of an old label. No chips. Cracks or repairs noted to the jar. The lid is marked with the Pairpoint"P" inside diamond. Jar is most likely Mt. Washington opal ware. Jar is hand numbered 3930 over 230. Circa- turn of the century. Jar has pretty detailing- blown out flowers. Scrolls, ruffles along bottom. Stands 4 1/4" to top of metal collar. 6 1/4" to top of finial on lid when covered. Stands just under 9 1/2" tall to top of handle when raised. Jar measures approx. 7 1/8" across at widest section near base. No chips or cracks found in glass. There are some spots of missed color in crevices of molded areas. The metal collar. Lid and handle have a dull sheen- I believe this ... morewas the satin finish and may never have had a high polished sheen- I am not positive. The current finish is very uniform and looks very pretty with the coloring of the jar. I am selling as found, I did not try to clean or polish.
